One thing I absolutely need you to understand is that in the United States, *police can legally lie to you.*

And in most cases, a cop lying to you is NOT a defense to a criminal charge.

Don't talk to cops. Get a lawyer.

Trump Wants to Cut Tribal College Funding by Nearly 90%, Putting Them at Risk of Closing ProPublica found that Congress was underfunding tribal colleges by a quarter-billion dollars per year. Rather than fixing the problem, proposed federal funding cuts unveiled this week would devastate…

Tribal college leaders said they were stunned by the proposed cuts to their already insufficient funding and had more questions than answers.

“It’s a dagger, and I don’t know how we can survive these types of cuts,” one college president said.

One attorney, Lizbeth Mateo, said ICE officials slated several of her clients for check-ins at the Edward R. Roybal Federal Building in downtown L.A. but when they showed up on Tuesday, they were detained and immediately escorted to the basement.

Mateo said a couple and their two children, one of whom is a U.S. citizen, spent the night in a room with no beds and limited access to food and water. Mateo said the father had previously been issued a stay of removal, barring him from deportation but he and his family were detained anyway. His wife was released Wednesday evening along with their children since she needed medical attention due to a high-risk pregnancy. He was still being detained early Friday, Mateo said.

🚨NEW: @cbsnews.com reports ICE is arresting people who can't even legally be deported and holding them without enough food or water in a federal building BASEMENT in Los Angeles.

Families dutifully attending check-ins with ICE are being arrested and held for days, forced to sleep on the floor.

“You can’t require Columbia University to ban masks in order to get federal funding while you turn around and have federal government enforcement law enforcement agents wearing masks.”

Police take back statement dismissing hate crime in gay actor’s killing Jonathan Joss, who acted in “King of the Hill” and “Parks and Recreation,” was shot in San Antonio by a man who yelled “homophobic slurs” at him, his husband said.

San Antonio police have walked back on a previous statement that there was no evidence of a hate crime in the killing of actor Jonathan Joss, with the police chief now calling the statement “premature.”

SEIU California President David Huerta Injured, Detained at ICE
Raid in Los Angeles
Los Angeles - David Huerta, President of SEIU California and SEIU- United Service Workers West was injured and detained at an ICE raid in Los Angeles today while exercising his First Amendment right to observe and document law enforcement activity.
Tia Orr, Executive Director of SEIU California, made the following statement:
"SEIU California members call for the immediate release of our President, David Huerta, who was injured and detained at the site of one of today's ICE raids in Los Angeles. He is now receiving medical attention while in custody.
"We are proud of President Huerta's righteous participation as a community observer, in keeping with his long history of advocating for immigrant workers and with the highest values of our movement: standing up to injustice, regardless of personal risk or the power of those perpetrating it.
"We call for an end to the cruel, destructive, and indiscriminate ICE raids that are tearing apart our communities, disrupting our economy, and hurting all working people. Immigrant workers are essential to our society: feeding our nation, caring for our elders, cleaning our workplaces, and building our homes."

Your bill is going to cut coverage for 11 million Americans and it’ll still cost more than universal healthcare.

Healthcare is a human right, you absolute ghouls.

Detailed etching on off white paper. A rooster stands on the right, holding out a bundle of twigs like an offering. A shorthaired white and tabby cat on the left is looking at the viewer and accepting the twigs - it is wearing an ornate, layered papal tiara and leaning on a walking stick.

Still Think Russia Is Defeating Ukraine? Watch This YouTube video by Adam Kinzinger

The country thats still defending is winning, the country that is breaking out tanks from WW2 in storage and attacking on donkeys and lost 900,000 men and got kicked out of Kyiv and begs NK for troops and Iran for weapons, isn’t.

For Those Who've Been Told by The Rich
to Vote for Them in the Name of God

Be careful who teaches you
what God is.
Listen. Those fools
don't care about you.
They make you afraid of your neighbor;
they make you afraid
of your own soul
so you hand it to them,
so they can dance inside their palaces.
They make you think
their ruinous news is new.

Listen. Your leaders
would pass you by
if you were bleeding in the street
in agony.
But Christ—whose name
they trade in—
Christ would stop
and kiss your blood for nothing
and lay down his own clothes
on your shoulders
and whisper in your ear,
as he kneels with you,
Leave them. They know exactly what they do.

The bishops are, much more than the Catholics I know (and I know a LOT, clergy and laity). I've been disappointed in them for years. They're such embarrassments

The USCCB has been frankly pathetic for a long while. I recall one time being surprised by their conservative hawkishness.. But now, it's just shameful and expected.

Immigrants didn’t keep the minimum wage at 7.25 since 2009.
Congress did.
Corporations paid them to do it.
The most American thing you can do is come to America to become an American.
The least American thing you can do is sell Americans your shit, while paying Americans shit to make your shit.
