This concerns me, as well. Right on the government website it says “The results of the referendum are binding”. Which other referendum results will they choose to ignore?

Calling inflation caused by the rise in oil prices a made in Canada problem is so dumb that you can only hope they know they’re lying
Just The Facts: Inflation is the Cost of Carney April 20, 2026 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Ottawa, ON – In December 2020, right before Canadians were hit with the worst inflation in four decades, Mark Carney predicted that inflation was “unlikely to materialize to a serious extent.” Now, after a year as Prime Minister, inflation has again surged out of control with the largest one-month increase in over a year. Overall inflation rose to 2.4 per cent in March, up from 1.8 per cent the month before. That includes a massive surge in the price of gas, which increased 21.2 per cent on a monthly basis, as Canadians continue to pay 15.6 per cent more at the pump compared to the US. That means higher costs at the grocery store, with prices rising 4.4 per cent year-over-year, up from 4.1 per cent in February. Canadians with fresh vegetables on their shopping list were hit the hardest with prices increasing 7.8 per cent, the biggest increase since August of 2023. All of this adds up to the highest food price inflation in the G7 for the fourth month in a row, proving that higher inflation continues to be a made-in-Canada problem. Money-printing deficits inflate the cost of everything, while Liberal taxes on food and gas increase costs even more, giving us the worst household debt in the G7. Canadians were told to judge Carney by the costs at the grocery store, and since then, prices have only continued to soar. Canadians can’t feed themselves on illusory promises or run their cars on empty rhetoric; we need results that bring down the cost of government to bring down the cost of living.
They didn't read the StatsCan report—just picked out the figures with no context.
THERE IS NO FUCKING MONEY-PRINTING HAPPENING! FFS!
Why would anyone expect a public service to make money?
If we're going to use this as a standard, how much money did the RCMP and the Canadian Armed Forces "lose" in the past eight years?
One of the reasons CEOs think LLMs can replace everyone is that an LLM actually can write a pretty convincing email about how Human Resources is now People and Values and how we’re streamlining our operations by making Jim Clungo now report to Dave McWingnut to enable agile transformations.
👏 Canada 👏 Post 👏 is 👏 a 👏 public 👏 service 👏
Nothing proves how capitalism has brain rotted everyone than thinking the post office, hospitals, public transit, libraries, etc. need to turn a profit to be worthwhile.

Another voice raising concerns over Alberta's plan to redraw the electoral map, with the Canadian Civil Liberties Association saying the UCP's plan "casts a doubt over the equity and fairness of Alberta’s electoral process."
A clip from The New York Times reads: "But only the entities that officially paid the tariffs are eligible to recover that money. That means that the fuller universe of people affected by Mr. Trump’s policies — including millions of Americans who paid higher prices for the products they bought — are not able to apply for direct relief. The extent to which consumers realize any gain hinges on whether businesses share the proceeds, something that few have publicly committed to do. Some have started to band together in class-action lawsuits in the hopes of receiving a payout."
The average American family paid $1,700 in tariffs last year, according to the bipartisan Congressional Joint Economic Committee. Few will ever see any of that money back. The refunds will go to companies, if doled out at all. What a joke.

For some reason, transgender medicine and surgeries are the ONLY medical interventions for which the public demands a perfect 0% regret rate.
Look up the regret rate for heart surgery some time.
It's A LOT higher than that for any gender affirming treatment.

Every AI commercial is like "Hey AI, what goes good on a sandwich?" and then the AI is like "Have you considered... cheese?" And then the narrator is like: THE FUTURE IS HERE.
A lot of our big “we’re gonna hold big tech accountable” bills actually hand them + the government unprecedented power to track, censor, and deplatform internet users—and would require us to link our identities to everything we do online, meaning no more privacy. Greatly reducing opposition to them
Cool. So, a) actually correct those weaknesses rather than pushing for *more* integration (especially on fossil fuels), and b) actually be transparent and make your actions match your speeches.

Could you also explain why your Minister of Energy Tim Hodgson said to Americans, "We believe the logical thing to do is have Fortress North America”? Because that doesn’t sound like a pivot.
However, *all* of his actions are *fully* consistent with a marginal hedging strategy that presumes the US will eventually return to its (economic) senses. It's a recipe for deeper integration.
As I put it here, he's selling status quo friendly policy as revolutionary change.
So much of Mark Carney's strategy simply doesn't add up given his consistently stated goals and assessments. Seeking deeper energy integration with the United States. The DST cave. His cuts to regulatory capacity in the face of lost US capacity. Continued dependence on US platforms.
"Some", by the way, include Minister Tim Hodgson:
Canada is “very hopeful that we can get through this difficult time and we can resume the type of relationship that we’ve had with the Americans for a long, long time."

Smith says that she wants to redraw the maps to ensure that rural gets the representation it deserves because rural constituencies are complex & too big.
This compares the majority report & the minority report.
It's the cities that get carved up, rural barely moves.

They're so cheap about it, with no seeming rhyme or reason to what is approved and what isn't. Even occasional pain medication (not OTC) can be denied. I fully expect the coverage to continue to be nickle and dimed.
It's run through Alberta Blue Cross just like the senior's drug benefits program, which also saw cuts to what (and whom) was covered.
She's referring to the drug coverage program that AISH has. Which doesn't necessarily cover everything you might be prescribed. I know for a fact that they will often decide that your doctor's prescription isn't enough, and you still have to pay out of pocket.
