We can't move forward as a country so long as it is legal to just lie to people

We also need people to live in cities and those cities need to be dense because those are the conditions that create progressives

It is genuinely absurd how much increasing stop spacing makes a transit system more useful

I visit SF quite often and going from KCM which averages about 1-1.2k ft to MUNI which averages about 500' it is night and day.

Every stop costs time which means fewer service hours that could go elsewhere

You can do both, you'd connect to CHS, go over to 12th, and then get to aloha that way. Works best that way

1 week ago 1 0 0 0

Yeah but like, having east west service north of denny would also be pretty useful, especially if you can tie it into CHS

I mean, I'm confident they could do it without the Harrison project

Ohhhhh lol, yeah, you dodged a bullet. I got on early transferring off a 33 so I got a seat. We didn't leave anyone at any stops though

Its absurd that the 24 and 33 dont provide east-west service through SLU along Mercer given how many buses are a super easy transfer to downtown for people in Magnolia

Could even send them up to Cap Hill Station

I wrote a paper a month ago on how all washington state prek-12 schools and community colleges have an opportunity to produce hundreds of thousands of units of social housing on already public land. Should turn that into a substack or op-ed

Thats crazy

It then follows that in addition to increasing the average speed of the FHS, moving the SLUT's resources to the FHS would be a substantially better use of the decently large chunk of STM funding the streetcars receive.

1 week ago 1 0 0 0

Actually, the fact that the FHS' ridership recovery is so high and the fact that a lot of this is owed to non-commute trips strongly suggests its ridership would explode if given better frequency. 12-15 minute service is not generally enough to act as a walking accelerator but 6 is...

1 week ago 1 0 1 0

It is. I would say that about 90-95% of it is just ridership recovery (that is higher than the system average because it disproportionately serves in-office required work and day to day activities) and about 5-10% is explainable by population growth

1 week ago 1 0 1 0

Wait really? I guess that makes sense given A) pre-pandemic ridership was much higher and B) rn it struggles with 8 minute service

Yep! Also, I forgot RapidRide E runs every 5 in the peak direction during peak (insane that it used to be every 90 seconds)

1 week ago 3 0 1 0

I would also point out that the last few months of Link ridership are relatively severe undercounts. ST has said it is undergoing an audit and my expectation based off other trends is the actual number is roughly 15k daily riders higher than is currently being reported
