aw.. yeah, i know pokemon has been trying to write some compelling stories, and im here for that but.. it seems like theyre struggling to do that and put out a compelling game too

i think more things in the pokemon games should be weird and difficult and obtuse and backwards. i think the environments should be oddly familiar because theyre based in reality, except now theres a whole world with pokemon on top of them.

but we're not gonna get a ruins of alph again i dont think

IUNNO pokemon seems so interested in chasing the dollar i think its kinda lost touch with the original charm of the games. the point is you have an adventure! its fun! the world is fun!

it doesnt matter if there is a new mechanic! i want to get lost as fuck in a forest way out in fuck you nowhere!

theres been a resurgence of appreciation for the gen 1 and 2 games recently and i can really understand why now. they had such a unique approach compared to the plasticine futurism of the new games

theres something about the grounded appreciation for real world places the old games have thats nice

im not saying that any of the new games havent had things worthy of merit, there are some really interesting new ideas

but the lack of time in development or really any level of polish or small charming details that made some of the old games interesting kinda has completely disappeared.

maybe its just me getting older or something but, im really kind of sad that the pokemon games really just dont interest me anymore

i still really love the series and it will hold a special place in my heart, but these past few releases have been! not great!

i remember being really rebuffed by my initial impressions of the game and how...... undercooked it felt. everything ive seen since has kinda only served to reinforce that.
