Oh how I love to read

If you take nothing else from this, go get a library card. I never thought I would utilize it as much as I have and never thought public libraries would have such a positive impact on my quality of life. We crave knowledge as human beings. We are naturally curious. Feed your soul and mind!

being outside. My attention span has been slowly mending itself through reading thought-provoking, philosophical, and scientific books and articles. Continuous education is so key in maintaining the sharpness of our minds and the quality of our interactions with others.

This has encouraged me—someone who fell into a bit of a social rut since moving to my current city—to get out and explore my community. I got a library card and have been reading more than ever! I’ve become more engaged in my current relationships and the world around me just by reading more and…

I truly feel like we are moving towards using social media as a life enhancer to connect us to each other instead of a life consumer. I’ve seen so many people endorsing local libraries and other community spaces as a way to gather and connect, and I think that we are more united than ever recently.

As upsetting as the potential TikTok ban is, I’m so excited for this new era of social media. Between Bluesky, Neptune, and other small platforms popping up, I feel like we are getting closer to de-centering social media from our lives and being intentional about time spent in community.

Here’s the deal: Make reading your hobby this year. It’ll expand your mind, grow your perspective, and if you grab a library card, you’ll be supporting authors too (yes, in places like the UK, AU, NZ, and Canada, libraries pay authors!). Reading isn’t just fun—it’s a win for everyone.

HBD to the Endangered Species Act! Without this groundbreaking (+ bi-partisan) law we wouldn't have Mexican gray wolves, gray wolves, or Red Wolves.

A world without the ESA would be pretty crappy. We're thankful it exists + will fight tirelessly to protect it!

So exciting! Question for you: how did you decide where to start? I want to write but feel like I can’t pinpoint where to start and what a true writing process looks like.

Feeling more empowered to shop small, consume less, and live locally. I got a library card and felt like I was actually contributing to a community. It’s liberating to feel like a part of something bigger than you and positively affect your direct environment.

Every book lover dreams of a secret library—not just for the aesthetic, but for the joy of being left alone. No interruptions, no small talk. Just peace, quiet, and the thrill of getting lost in another world!
