The YIMBY Action review of his debate performance is very underwhelming. It sounds like a candidate who has not meaningfully engaged with the issue of housing yimbyaction.org/blog/grading...

Bass winning in the June primary is extremely unlikely with those favorability ratings. It's probably too big a hurdle for Nithya to win in June, but I am loving her odds right now
What high rise is moving forward in Hollywood? Recently it looked like all the proposals were stalled, that's great news
The rationale response to a Barcelona type situation is to encourage Hotel and Apartment/Condo development while banning Airbnb. Banning Hotel development would exacerbate the shift of apartments into illegal short term rentals
Rather- I see the data source is Lincoln Institute, but how reliable is the data?
What's the data source on this? It's hard to imagine 0% total growth for Seattle, which is the fastest growing city in the country.
Cost of living drives demands for higher wages. Lack of population growth means all spend growth translates to per capita. I suspect if you looked at total spend vs Phoenix, Denver, etc it would be much more similar but the per capita numbers are stark
D to SM is already cleared? Would that still be the case if the project switched to cut and cover?
On the other hand, at some point I saw D to SM as an item that continues to be on the Westside Council of Governments list for funded explorations/projects
The current council is pro-transit and the past housing element significantly upzoned Wilshire (and all the major boulevards) which improves the viability of the project. Everything I've heard though is that the D Line extension would struggle to access Metro funds until Sepulveda is over
"Giving L.A. a veto over state policy would doom California to more of the same — rising costs, worsening displacement and endless obstruction." calmatters.org/commentary/2...
Senator Aisha Wahab is speaking to Santa Monica’s Northeast Neighbors (NEN) group tonight. NEN is a notorious NIMBY group, “representing” 5000 multi-millionaire single family homeowners.
Something tells me they would not support social or Affordable housing in their exclusionary nabe!
Thanks for covering the Surplus Lands @estebancortante.bsky.social! la.urbanize.city/post/santa-m...
@urbanizela.bsky.social Santa Monica put out a notice of availability for 2 large sites that are available now as Surplus Land. Is that something you'd be interested in covering? www.santamonica.gov/media/Housin...
Look at the difference between NorCal and SoCal.
In the Bay, out of the 11 Senators repping urban areas, 8 voted yes.
In LA County, out of 13 Senators only 4 voted yes.
The LA delegation is killing housing bills.
Cities choose to have a housing crisis.
Don't build luxury housing, just turn existing affordable housing into luxury housing and deport the working and middle class who live in it to Nevada: this is the California status quo.
I’m about to board my flight to El Salvador, where I hope to meet with senior government officials to discuss the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
I also hope to see Kilmar and check on his condition — and remind him that we won’t stop fighting until he’s home.
This is no longer left vs. right.
It’s democracy vs. autocracy.
Everyone must pick a side.
We choose democracy.

my offer to america: we bring woke back
CHIP did something!!
Wish metro would cut this project and upgrade the metrolink line instead.
Desalinization and vertical farming aren't necessary to free up rivers and land for conservation. Those would impose high costs on consumers - not very Abundance. Instead, the state should be putting a small thumb on the scale to discourage feed production for cattle & beef consumption.
Renters aren't pollutants! It's time for CA to say yes to infill housing.
Don't knock cross-ventilated!
The irony of this is that the banned example in the first picture looks much better than the preferred design. IMO cities should impose a few requirements like no blank walls facing pedestrians at ground level, and leave it at that.
Lots of homeowners north of Montana in Santa Monica reclassified as having fire hazard risk, and lots of buildings below sunset in WeHo. Ugly new reality here.
Given the high project cost I'm surprised Metro is recouping any $ value. I'm surprised this project is getting funded / moving forward at that cost to start with.
That's an insane cost when the pilot detected 0 weapons
What the actual fuck?! America, it’s time to rise. When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty!
