I feel like Coachella is the music equivalent to the Cannes Film Festival, where the buzziest acts perform and draw interest for the later festivals like Lollapalooza. It happened with Chappell Roan and it is about to happen with Slayyyter.

At the bat release. When they start letting the bats go, @davidjtaylor.bsky.social says quietly, "This must be what it was like when Sabrina Carpenter brought Madonna onstage at Coachella."
Between Palestine 36 and The Drama, I love that I got to see Logan Roy’s romantic partners in the cinema in the matter of five days.
Going from Lorna Shore to the Lorne doc because I contain multitudes.
They were the blueprint for Leo’s character in One Battle lol
These showtime listings for the Top Gun/Maverick re-release are breaking my brain. Don’t understand why Top Gun isn’t shown first followed by Maverick in IMAX. Guess I’ll see Top Gun one day and Maverick the following. It’s my vacation week anyway and kinda a slow movie week.
Saw Lorna Shore tonight for a second time. It was heavy as hell.
“He’s not married, mom!”
Yeah, like by pop culture osmosis I’ve heard the lines but not in the context of the movie lol
Like every moment is a GIF and a sound bite lol.
Watching Kindergarten Cop for the first time and this might be the funniest movie of all time.
I think everyone that praises Obsession (2025) now has to watch the entirety of Superman & Lois to see how awesome Inde Navarrette is in that.
Two Coachella-related thoughts:
1. I’m so down bad for Slayyyter
2. I’ve listen to Nine Inch Noize more than the new Olivia Rodrigo song (nothing against her, love her and her music, those are just the facts)
Just saw the trailer for Carolina Caroline. Samara Weaving and Kyle Gallner have unbelievable levels of sexual chemistry.
I still can’t believe Barbara Howard was diving straight into the Avatar Reddit. I love Abbott Elementary.
Crazy to think we are getting, at this moment, release dates shift, a new Final Destination and a new Brendan Fraser-led Mummy movie in May of 2028. The early aughts are back!
Kinda hoping I don’t get approved to cover this concert on Monday so I can see Speed Racer in IMAX.
Not even a whole week and I’ve seen two of the stars of Suspiria (1977) (Jessica Harper in Fantasy Life and Stefania Casini in You, Me & Tuscany) in recently released movies.
Between watching Ghost Dog and My Own Private Idaho, filmmakers sure loved making their characters watch the Simpsons in the 90s.
I mean, sure, these guys are at the tail end of Gen Z, but I just couldn’t believe they are dancing to a song that came out just after they were born. I guess it’s the new Macarena for late Gen Z as it was for late millennials.
I going to have to come to terms with, after seeing a video of high schoolers at prom dance to it, that the “Cupid Shuffle” is now a multi-generation dance. Like, we were dancing to it at middle school socials in the late aughts. Just incredible staying power.
Teddy Swims brought out David Lee Roth at Coachella yesterday and the crowd’s vibe seemed like, “Ok, who let grandpa on the stage.” I love DLR.
Watching The Last Dragon (1985) for the first time and William H. Macy just showed up.
Other than Ryan Gosling and Keanu Reeves, are there any other Canadian actors turned bassists?
Jessica Henwick shared a video of her performing Hans Zimmer’s track, “Maestro”, from the score of The Holiday (2007) on piano and, oh my god, I couldn’t be any more down bad for that woman.
Because they got him for that, they re-recorded him saying Palpatine’s dialogue in “Siege of Lothal”. On Disney+, on the English [Audio Description] audio track, you can hear McDiarmid’s dialogue.
Something I discovered today: Sam Witwer (voice of Maul) was the voice of Palpatine in the second part of the Star Wars Rebels episode, “Siege of Lothal”. Ian McDiarmid (Palpatine in the Skywalker Saga films) voiced him in season four of Rebels.
I just realized we’ll getting our first looks at Practical Magic 2, Clayface, and Resident Evil next week. 😮
It said the Anakin desk is the original one. I guess I’ll take their word.
