Me and @eyesealovevv.bsky.social saw a "wand vs. staff, choose your side" post and were sad to see ai sludge for the graphic (the wand wizard's hand had 8 fingers)
She suggested a secret third option: a shapeshifting staff that could be both. I countered with a telescopic wandstaff.

Page 26 of a pencil sketchbook. The top quarter of the page is dedicated to the mechanitch sitting, sole-to-sole, one hand on her right leg and the other held up in gesture, looking anxious as anything but putting on a brave face. To our left is a shaded afterimage of her holding her head in her hands, steaming with frustration and gritting her teeth. To our right is the wizard, in silhouette, listening - not everything needs an immediate reaction. The mechanitch rambles in a HUGE speech bubble that dominates the page, coming apart a little at the seams. To one side of the bubble is another internal view ala page 16, of the vertically-lined circle saying "C'mon, sweetheart, we're at work..." to the 7-pointed star. To the other side of the bubble is a sequence of the wizard handling the goblet-mug she cloned on the previous page - tipping it out, then filling it with a "fizzzz..." by pointing the pointer finger on her other hand and, without speaking, using the „Summon Beverage" ability she mentioned prior. The giant speech bubble, which is practically a panel unto itself, reads "A-a clean, instant duplicate? As one motion? I'm not really one for. Uh. Abstract casting? Never quite took to it, that's why w- I (underlined) work in hexomobiles and all the practical (underlined) stuff, but it's still sort of an interest of mine, y'know? So I thought what--" This speech bubble is interrupted by the wizard. "girl.", underlined, "you need to *relax*, ay-sap." She forcefully hands the goblet-mug over to the mechanitch, who sheepishly realises her attempt to cover up anxiety has not worked and is letting out an involuntary "mmhhh" sound. As the mechanitch settles into a "sssssip", focusing on the bubbly texture of the liquid, the wizard says "this drink'll lift any dog in a storm."

Now this is thinking with portals! Wielded only by the most mithril-wristed conjurors with the grip strength of ten ettins, the staff-length staff was an awe-inspiring sight to behold from the lowest petty king's court to the highest seat of the Circle
Ah, but the morphic wandstaff is actually magic and therefore worth significantly more bragging points (a very important aspect in wizard culture)
