Absolutely incredible.

How incredible: “The full delivery took about 30 minutes. For hours afterward, pairs of whales held the baby above the water until it was able to swim…
What struck the researchers was how many mother, sister and daughter whales united to support the new calf, even ones that weren’t related.”

In 2002, at the age of 91 years, artist Louise Bourgeois created 'Ode a L'Oubli' (Ode to Forgetting), a book of 35 fabric pages made from her own cloth saved from different eras of her life #Womensart
A Blue Crane named "Periwinkle" is shown in a portrait as she stands in her habitat at the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo, WI.
This is repost of joy. I heard on another platform that this Blue Crane, Periwinkle, at ICF has successfully produced an egg this year. This picture is from a few years ago. I am so thrilled for her and her mate Harold. They reside at the ICF (Intl Crane Foundation) in Baraboo, WI.

After near-collapse in the 1990s Rwanda’s Akagera National Park has seen an incredible ecological recovery with successful reintroduction of lion, rhino, elephant and giraffe and core ecosystems restored. It's one of Africa’s most complete large-scale restoration turnarounds.

Mexico’s overwintering monarch population grew 64% this winter, with butterflies covering their largest area of forest since 2018. The recovery remains fragile, but suggests there’s been a positive impact from conservation efforts in the butterflies’ core habitat. buff.ly/XoPKQ9d

Two brilliant civil rights lawyers - one Asian American; one Black American. Both women. @aclu.org’s Cecellia Wang & @legaldefensefund.bsky.social’s @janainelson.bsky.social. They argued two of the most consequential cases in SCOTUS this year. This embrace is one of my favorite moments of the day.

It brings me some solace to know that whatever's happening down here, there are still some absolutely incredible human-made and human-driven robots wandering around Mars, looking at cool rocks and dirt and sending us pictures just because we're curious about planets and our own origins in the cosmos
Terry Pratchett in a blue jacket and Akubra hat holding a young owl for release.
Eleven years since you crossed the black sands. I wish I could say that the world is better than you left it (although it will always be better for having had you in it) but at least there is a new Young Sam to help carry on the Pratchett name and ethos. Love you always ❤️
I can proudly say I sat behind this woman in many a seminar wherein she would sit in the front row quietly knitting the whole time and then ask a DEVASTATING question (complimentary) at the end.
One thing we don’t do well, societally or interpersonally, is digest harms when there really isn’t anyone to blame.
Being called a n*gger on international television in front of your peers is a harm.
Having a disability that creates that harm through no choice of your own is a harm.
I don’t know who needs to hear Jesse Jackson leading the kids on Sesame Street in this beautiful call-and-response reminding them that every child is somebody, but here it is
