Live Results: Virginia redistricting special election There aren’t any candidates on the ballot in Virginia’s statewide special election on Tuesday, but the contest could still decide control of the closely divided U.S. House this fall.

It’s supposed to be temporary change. It is already facing challenges in the Virginia Supreme Court. We shall see. Here’s a good interactive map to see results. Cities and Northern Virginia won the day for the Democrats. www.pbs.org/newshour/pol...

I know ppl who applauded Texas’ legislation to stack the districts for GOP & are very loud now decrying Virginia’s 10-1 yes vote. Gerrymandering is wrong but a democratic vote is better than legislative procedure. Plus is shows how many people likely want the President & administration gone.

Amen. Amen. The entire event is run by an organization that leans dominionist. The founder according to a search seems to be knee deep in NAR (New Apostolic Reformation). No thanks.

Winter was hard on our plants. Now it’s a drought. Yet still, a sign of grace and beauty has bloomed.

The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad; the desert shall rejoice and blossom;
like the crocus it shall blossom abundantly and rejoice with joy and shouting.
(Isa. 35:1-2A)

Chornobyl first responder says few survive 40 years on Petro Hurin says his health has never been the same since he was sent 40 years ago to clear the Chornobyl site in the wake of the world's worst nuclear accident.

If you haven’t seen the HBO series on Chernobyl, it’s a must see. It’s very well done revealing both the Soviet systemic issues and cultural flaws as well as some very brave souls. reut.rs/4czUePY

When two parties are fighting, sometimes a third party needs to step up to try to stop it. Despite some recent denials and deflections, that is the role of the Church. 2-penny-blog.com/2026/04/20/i...

Gonna spend the next two years spamming every elected Dem about the concept of "damnatio memoriae." Chisel his name off every inscription. Build over the various Trump Towers like they're Nero's Golden House. Remove him from physical memory, not to forget but as a sign of disrespect to the man.

Do I believe the words of the Psalmist? Yes. Do I hope for everyone to know they are loved by Jesus and respond to that love? As a Christian pastor, yes. Do I think this reflects the values of the Constitution I swore to defend & protect as a soldier & respects beliefs of non-Christian citizens? No.

Yet, I acknowledge that’s a phrase from the Cold War and not welcomed by all citizens.

Subtle, but in the context of our time, it likely regrettably reflects a specific political if not religious view. The proper “one Nation under God" was officially approved by Congress on June 15, 1954. Stick to that.

Of course, they call it a homeland under God rather than nation. That’s a phrase heavily utilized in right-wing, far-right, and nationalist posts even as, yes, it reflects the department’s name.

The idea we are a Christian nation based on history is more complicated than some people today wish to recognize, but at least, this wasn’t a quote from a movie.

Sure, it quotes the Jewish scriptures, but that’s a Christian church building. I’ve seen these kind of posts also from other departments. When it comes to freedom of religion, there’s a middle ground between silencing faith communities and in effect forcing our faith on people.

It seems performative where the Christian faith should be relational, not forced. Unfortunately, some in our govt hierarchy come from traditions that want theocracy if not theonomy. So, be careful when someone talks about asserting Christian values. Ask what they mean by that, then vote accordingly.

HORMUZ TRACKER: Widespread U-Turns Take Place Amid Iran Warning Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz briefly surged early Saturday before collapsing as Iran warned shipping in the area that the corridor was closed to maritime traffic once again. A broadcast, hear...

Bloomberg: "A total of 12 commercial ships completed successful outbound transits on Saturday morning London time, before it became clear that Iran was halting transits again. At least half of those that did get out had links to Iran."

Wasn't the blockade supposed to stop those Iran-linked ships?

In the presence of our enemies | Clergy “Psalm 23 retains its powerful ability to instruct, comfort and even shock us if we slowly and intentionally wrestle with its words, images and concepts.”

Another friend’s article (from PA) can be found below. “In the presence of our enemies, we can strive to do as Jesus did. Instead of clinging to our resentments, anger, pain, or craving for victory, we can cling instead to Jesus.”
