Big Ag is extractive. Trees killed, land ruined, jobs gone. Capitalism strikes again:

'This juice is an innovation that represents the future of citrus,” a sign next to the cooler said. “100 percent American juice,” boasted the label.

I drank it. It didn’t taste very good.'

I love how all of my weird interests converge into single point. That NBC reporter who was one of the few journalists honestly covering the far right freaks and their plans? Well now he owns the onion, bought the branding of my favorite RW freak, and is on my favorite podcast. Neat!

The Son and The Seditious Father Stewart Rhodes built a seditious militia and called it patriotism. His own son watched it happen from the inside.

Some of my family were born or died in this hospital, and the nearest hospital, 33 miles away? That's where my mother, aunts, and cousins and I were born, where my father died at age 24, and where both my grandparents died in their 90s

Now that Leonard is old, the car only takes him to the vet, where he suffers indignities like having his butt squeezed and being stuck with needles. But he still gets excited to go, he doesn't hold a grudge

It's also worth being clear about who's doing the arguing. Palantir sells operational software to defence, intelligence, immigration & police agencies. These 22 points aren't philosophy floating in space, they're the public ideology of a company whose revenue depends on the politics it's advocating.

If these "other cultures" are so "dysfunctional and backwards" how could they produce an "AI weapons industry"?

I just need to point out that children are not typically put on benzodiazepines. I have worked with hundreds of kids who are on psych meds and have never encountered a child who was taking benzos, not even as a PRN med. And I work with kids with serious behavior issues

While there is a lower class, I am in it; while there is a criminal element, I am of it; and while there is a soul in prison, I am not free.

Imagine if your brother was the Pope. Imagine how family dinners would go: "Why can't you be more like your brother?" Mom, I literally cannot, he is the Pope, there's only one

And thus I clothe my naked villainy
With odd old ends stol’n forth of holy writ,
And seem a saint, when most I play the devil.

This morning’s light is a gentle nudge: what hurts doesn’t have to live in your body forever. Let it move, let it make something, let it become something softer than the weight it once carried.

I have always liked horror, but now it is all I read (for fiction.) My mom used to ask teenage me why I liked that stuff. I find it soothing. It's a break from the actual horrors.

Climate denial is so weird at this point in time. If you are over 40, you have witnessed firsthand the changes. Where I live, no old buildings have AC because we didn't used to need it. But all new builds include it, because NOW we need it. Over the past 20 years there has been an obvious shift

What Do Authoritarians Fear Most? People Who Stick Up for Each Other. The most reliable form of resilience is not individual wealth or distant institutions, but solidarity.

"Community and solidarity are superpowers that ICE hadn’t expected. Federal agents would have known how to crush a small, violent uprising. They had no idea how to handle thousands of neighbors showing up nonviolently to support people they might not even know."

And those commandments, according to the Christian Bible, ought to be the ones emphasized, over the ones in the Old Testament. Instead, Jesus' instructions to His followers are avoided. Empathy is now a sin

Went back to work today, had a full day of clients, it was fine. I am super tired, I'm not 100% recovered, but I am getting there. I always forget that things can be temporary
