Low-key always thought Nick Drake was Danish because Bryter Lรฅter roughly translates to Swedish as 'Breaking Sounds' and I thought the spelling was funky cos Danish but apparently it's stylised Old English about brighter weather and all of my assumptions are false lmao
Nick Drake + A sunny yet crisp Spring morning = Immaculate mental health ๐

I'm giving a talk at the @oipassoc.bsky.social symposium!
My presentation argues for marking victories in open access and makes the radical proposition it's what Schopenhauer would have wanted (ft pessimistic quotes in cheugy fonts)
No idea what that means? Register to find out ๐

I cannot overstate how much accessing Brighton and Hove Libraries as a child in the late 90s / early 00s fundamentally shaped who I am and informed my career in book publishing.
โโ Shame on Brighton and Hove City Council for trying to cut a vital service.

I love this fascinating insight to discussions on publishing @elinorpotts.bsky.social found in the LSE archives - showing not only the importance of publishing, but how much publishing has changed. Much less cigarette burns in the paperwork - or indeed much paperwork - these days!
