Why did the manager often have trouble locating the office printer?

He had poor peripheral vision.

My Sunday pm was interrupted by Node-RED deciding I had no dashboard pages - no controls or indicators, but the back-end was still working. After trying a few fixes, including restoring 2 backups, I decided this was my cue to migrate everything to Dashboard 2. And here we are..half past midnight! 😣

I was working with Claude about a mildly complex nginx reverse proxy + let's encrypt cert renewal issue with Mailcow and local Web sites, & it suddenly started to refer to a completely different email system. When corrected, it came back with more irrelevance & I had to start over. Big brainfart.

I keep some in a cleaned out nasal spray bottle. The plastic seems unaffected - I've had one for years.

I was thinking, oh, a size comparison, showing how much we've miniaturised storage over time...and then it clicked!

I spent part of yesterday writing a MS Power App to check a list & send an email when a year has passed since a thing in the list was last done. I got it working, but the syntax, IDE & debug methods made me really appreciate how easy to use and well thought out Node-RED's interface and tooling are.

Take care not to snap two together - or one against a metal surface - with your fingers in the way.

I used to work at HGST / Western Digital - there were lots of big magnets around + the occasional cut and bruised finger when not paying attention.

Follow up on my dodgy 4GB and 32GB (2 of each) micro SD from AliExpress: They were bought from the same supplier but since they were 2 line items I had to request 2 returns...

4GB: Here's a return label
32GB: Here's a refund, no need to send back.

Um. OK.

Embuggerance - it's such a good word, isn't it?

After four very busy years building global identity systems for Sky, my team and I have all been let go as they restructure.

If anyone needs 'big iron' Java services, wants to build a startup or create something new - let me know.

Reminds me of a theatre where I used to do sound & SFX. The stage power bay had a 100A breaker, but fed by a 60A one in the main electrical room (Huh?!). This caught out a few lighting engineers who didn't load plan each scene change carefully. We had the odd blackout when the 60A breaker tripped!
