This @bostonglobe.com piece highlighting substantive critiques of Massachusetts' "protect the kids" push for online ID checks is rock solid.
Many experts quoted along with parents and young people who would be directly impacted.

NYC study shows men are 2.6x more likely than women to bike to work. When protected bike lane coverage is high, women’s cycling rates rise significantly faster than men’s.
When protected lanes are limited or fragmented, women’s participation drops sharply.
Good bike investments give women choices.
Breaking: HHS’s ban on gender-affirming care is struck down. Rarely have I read a ruling this sharply worded.
“This case is one of a long list of examples of how a leader’s wanton disregard for the rule of law causes very real harm to very real people.”

I just remembered Tuesday’s turkey traffic jam in Northampton. As I passed, I saw an angry turkey pecking at the tires of a stopped car, whose driver had stopped for it!
I’ve had really good luck with zine assignments. They have to pull together material from the course to make them.

My favorite tree is getting ready to do its thing.

"I think there’s an inability for those people who have wealth in the country to understand and value something like Hampshire. It was dedicated to a transformational education, in an era when higher education has been hijacked by the transactional" - Ken Burns '75 www.nytimes.com/2026/04/14/u...
The header is a mural by Eric Carle that is greens and yellows Dear Friends, As you may have heard, Hampshire College’s Board of Trustees voted to permanently close Hampshire College following the Fall 2026 semester. We are saddened about this news, as Hampshire College has been a wonderful neighbor to The Carle. We wish everyone in the Hampshire community the best as they go through this challenging time. The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art is an independent organization, located on its own land that is adjacent to Hampshire College. The Carle’s building and operations will not be impacted by any changes at Hampshire. We look forward to continuing to welcome visitors of all ages to enjoy our inspiring exhibitions and creative programming. Best, Jennifer Schantz Executive Director
with the news about Hampshire College closing, I've seen some wondering about the Eric Carle Museum; they're independent. Below, the letter they have sent out.
Not true, tho they are trying to convince us that the library needs fewer books!
I really prayed for her to go elsewhere.
