The other day I heard a 'butty van' going around a business park playing the theme tune from Benny Hill!
Couldn't work out if it was a genius move or totally inappropriate 🙈🤔

@researchdogsbody.bsky.social highlights how aristocratic women participated in archery, tennis, golf, skating and cricket when attending country house weekends.
@researchdogsbody.bsky.social highlights how the upper classes always employed sporting servants and how possession of sporting animals served as marks of distinction.
Another night on the @researchdogsbody.bsky.social speaking tour of the UK!

Another big crowd listening to @researchdogsbody.bsky.social talking this time about a local school strike by children and parents over a century ago. Bit dark with all the lights off but great slides help to tell a fascinating story.
As always @researchdogsbody.bsky.social sets her topic in the context of the time. We cannot understand the significance of any event if it is divorced from the social mores and structures of the period. Family historians should remember that it is never just about dates.
Try and sent to over to Lancs then
'tis a tad windy in my little part of #Cheshire tonight
Stay warm, keep hold of your hats, and if the wind does make it all the way down this chimney, I'll at least offer it tea and biscuits. It’s clearly committed!
I gave a talk for the @thefriendsoftabley.bsky.social last year, it's an amazing backdrop

Big crowd at Macclesfield for @researchdogsbody.bsky.social who is giving a talk on researching women's lives as family historians. Professional presentation as always.
