Oh, Seoul Station is amazing. I’d also recommend his other two animated features, The Fake and King of Pigs, but maybe just for you.

That’s awesome! Do you think he’d vibe with Seoul Station? (Given that Train to Busan 2 is deeply underwhelming, imo)
Found in the attic. Crazy to think how long ago this was.
Timeless!
Yes! Really getting down to the minutiae of all the different ways in which government can be corrupt/inept.
Ha ha. Imagine!
Pitch for a TV series:
A single camera, local government drama about the newly elected mayor (and the subsequent administrations- I see this thing as multi season) trying to deal with the Jason “situation” in the quiet hamlet of Crystal Lake.
Kind of like if Friday the 13th did Shin Godzilla.
Get a pine-note, cheap, open source, community driven software and OS, doesn’t spend money on building rockets or data centres.
Just American ships and ships heading to America, right?
Right?
A photograph of a BMW painted an unusual (custom?) sky blue and bear the license plate RI EKO, which is probably coincidentally the name of actress Rieko Miura, who played the character Chizuko Honda/Kobayashi, wife of detective Yosuke Kobayashi in the series MPD Psycho, and whose abduction and murder is the exciting incident for the entire show as well as the reason for the psychological break that causes Kobayashi to develop the multiple personalities (including analytical Kazuhiko Amamiya) that make himself the titular “Multiple Personality Detective: Psycho”. It’s a tenuous joke.
I think I’m stuck in traffic behind the dead wife of Kazuhiko Amamiya!

For a while I was trapped getting every release from a super boutique label reassembling & releasing Indonesian genre film. Each a limited edition of 20!
Eventually Pig, (then a puppy) eating discs 1 and 2 in the series. It finally felt like it wasn’t worth bothering with the rest and I was free.
Ha ha ha.
Ha ha. I invested at the start so had 3 years of everything just sent to me. This year is my first on the regular subscription, I’ve seen embarking few of them but I really want to watch all of them. There’s just never enough time.
Yeah, I think the collection is also becoming a way of bookmarking things I plan to watch, as it won’t all be available in a year or so, when I get round to being in the right place for them.
Do you still hoard physical media, though?
A screngrab of a game called “Embalming Lenin’s body” on the google play store featuring not-at-all historically accurate cartoon depictions of his corpse in a morgue.
It’s not historically accurate unless you get to drink the in-use preservation fluid with a friend.
A friend you then have sent to the gulag because, while off his face on Leninade, he confides in you that he thinks your wife is hot?
Big dentist, once again, getting its well scrubbed fingers into the mouth of popular music.
Radio 6 was playing Juice Newton’s Angel of the morning as I was driving today and I think the lyrics are
“Just call me angel of the morning (angel)
Just touch my teeth before you leave me, baby”
How weird.
(I am not looking to be corrected.)
Screen-grab of the synopsis of The Shrinking Man from imdb It reads “Plot: The Shrinking Man (2025) Shipbuilder inexplicably shrinks, gets trapped in basement, few inches tall. Must fight for survival in now-hostile ordinary household environment. Sci-fi premise, no explanation given for shrinking phenomenon.”
I’m very excited to discover Jan Kounen has a new film out but what an incredibly brusque synopsis!

Let me tell you something about Cuba.
US officials are constantly saying "socialism in Cuba is a failure". But in fact Cuba's achievements with socialism are extremely impressive:

Orwell must feel pretty smug right about now.
