new favorite git-worktrees feature: you can stash changes in 1 worktree, and pop them from another/root. πŸ”₯

Has anyone found a GREAT workflow for the times you're elbows-deep in your branch when you find an important bug that's unrelated to your changes? You should fix the bug, but you should do so in its own branch from main so the fix isn't tied to your feature. Doing it manually sucks.

Blink and marquee, while a bit of a blunt tool, can be used well. The tags may be gone, but the functionality is still possible.

Maybe unpopular opinion?

I hope mice get haptic motors and we can start using navigator.vibrate() even on desktop (not just mobile). When used well, it makes for a great UX.

Is there a place I can drop the email addresses of spammers to sign them up for a parade of horrible shit to be sent to their inboxes? Seems unfair that all I get to do is block them.

Apropos of nothing, here is a random email address: jessa@tech-qbatch.site

Post your tmux config and something that you're proud of in it...

Mine: github.com/atuttle/dotf...

- better key mappings for working with windows
- when a process sends bell (\a) the window gets a highlight color and a sound plays

I'm new to tmux. show me your awesome setups!

Spam is illegal, of course, but when has that ever stopped them? Like 90% of crap I unsubscribe from is stuff I never signed up for.

(Thanks, data brokers and all you shit-hole companies that profit from them!)

If you're not hitting them where it hurts, you're not hitting them at all.

I wish I could send an artificial bounce after receiving an email.

Senders who continue to send to bouncing emails get poor deliverability.

Why make spam prevention/cleanup incumbent on every recipient? If enough of us sent "late-bounces" bad senders would eventually lose the ability to send.

Tracking history for a FedEx package showing that it was marked "on vehicle for delivery" and then later "at local FedEx facility" on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday (today) once again shows "on vehicle for delivery".

Maybe 3rd time is the charm... Nothing important, just my $6,000/month medication. Thanks, Fedex. πŸ™„

Scratch-n-sniff sticker proposal: "Works on my machine"

IMO it should smell like ozone, since that's the smell of "whoops, I accidentally let the smoke out."

I for one can't wait for the future of app updates that don't require restarting the app.

Hearne Hardwoods Price List Browse and filter the Hearne Hardwoods lumber price list

Zero-stakes vibe-coded fun: I have always been frustrated trying to browse www.hearnehardwoods.com/price-list/ while at the hardwood dealer so I made this page that shows their data in a much more mobile-friendly format: hearne-prices.vercel.app -- source: github.com/atuttle/hear...

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

My 18 year old self would have been surprised how true "youth is wasted on the young" is... and doubly surprised that it has ~zero to do with free time, and playfulness and ~everything to do with back/knee pain and the vigor to just go do shit.

This is why I prioritize workouts + skydiving.

Addendum: and zero other "smart" features. No internet connectivity. I can even live with 8a-8p or 6a-6p due to DST shift.

I would pay good money for smoke alarms that guarantee they will only alert for low battery between 7am and 7pm.

I have to jump through so many more hoops to sign in to my dermatologist's portal than I do for my retirement or bank account websites. 🍌🍌🍌!

Enter cell#, enter code sent via sms, email on file -> enter code sent by email. Now verify birthday & agree to TOS & check "remember me" that does nothing.

Compound Theory - ColdFusion 9 ORM and Transactions - It Does Not Mean What You Think it Means.

While discussing CF-ORM vs. transactions today, I remembered this 16 year old blog post from @neurotic.bsky.social -- and somehow I was able to find it on the wayback machine!

I feel bad for people who have no other options to work these jobs. But they are representing the company and there is no other way for me to express my hatred for company practices than to share them with the representatives. So I calmly and politely tell them to fuck right the fuck off.

I'm not a nasty person. IMO my baseline happiness is ~20-30% higher than the average person.

Unless you're cold-calling or cold-texting me for sales crap.

Then I instantly wish 1,000 years of the worst imaginable pain and suffering upon you and your household & I'm not shy about telling you so.

It's sad how novel and heartwarming it feels to see a human being being human in front of a microphone.

More good people being good people in politics please.
