I phrase this as every single idea/thing in your game needs a good reason to be there and the game should be better for its inclusion.
I tend to build my designs up from small parts and not down from a kitchen sink with everything I could want in it, but the same rule applies either way.
This short video has a pretty good overview of how the games actually play. Kinda weird I haven’t seen any board game people talk about this thing yet.
Board feels a bit under the radar. There’s significantly more chatter about the arcade1up infinity table.

This is the closest modern thing I’ve seen exploring this idea. I’m intrigued, but the game catalog needs to expand a bit.

Exciting news everyone! My next game is coming to Backerkit in a few weeks. Pressed is a long time coming since 2021 but it is finally here.
If you love an interesting, beautiful card game, I think you will enjoy it. I would appreciate it if you gave it a follow.

If this were closer to me (Denver?) I’d already be in the car and driving.

I still want the future i was promised in 2008. This would have been absolutely incredible for board games.

This is only a crime if I was not invited.

My God can you imagine what this will be like when we actually go back to the surface? 🌖
For me (and honestly most people I know) the moon landings in the 70s are kind an abstract thing that happened in the past, not events witnessed in real time.
I’m officially a lunatic.
Let’s have another go.
All this moon mission stuff has me locked in on actual space again. Hank is always good and this one is especially great.

Disband the Space Force and give every dollar of its budget to NASA, we’re getting cooked in space OmG.

I stand corrected.
Incredibly specifically, uncannily corrected.
That’s absolutely wild.
Thanks!
The opportunities for dexterity games are ENDLESS and lord help me if I can use liquids.

Is anybody else even thinking about that? Probably not.
Anyone looking at this is likely more concerned with studying group confinement dynamics and psychosis.
Meanwhile I’m imagining a D&D group that truly has nowhere else to be, but has absolutely no ability to roll dice. 😅
I do not personally want to go to Mars. With current technology that’s a one way trip and they’re not getting a Chipotle. Nope, not for me.
But I’d love to send a game there.
It’s a thought exercise that isn’t urgent for 20 years, but we could test some out on the relatively sooner lunar missions.
We’re gonna need some distractions.
We’re gonna need ✨GAMES✨.
Games we can play in zero G.
I think about that a lot. Too much.
I don’t see it as an annoying constraint making Velcro and straps necessary.
I want games that REQUIRE zero G to play.

Movie poster for Nine Months. Hugh Grant is smiling big in ways an astronaut absolutely wouldn’t.
You can be awestruck and excited and happy to work in a tiny room (or really do anything in space! In zero g!) at every moment for 10 days.
Very few people could keep that kind of energy up for a whole pregnancy cycle’s worth of time.
Watching the Artemis astronauts on their 10 day excursion to the Moon and once again I can’t help thinking about the eventual trip to Mars.
It’s a lot more than 10 days.
It’s about NINE MONTHS.

The Taco Bell Doritos Locos Taco unwrapped and in its cardboard carrier.
Still the best idea Taco Bell has ever had.
The #Artemis II spacecraft is now fully behind the Moon, and will be unreachable for the next 40 minutes or so. This is the expected "loss of signal." During this time, they'll reach their closest approach to the Moon (about 4067 miles) and then their greatest distance from Earth (252,756 miles).
The Integrity crew just named a lunar crater for the commander’s late wife and I’m gonna need more than a minute to recover. 😭

It should be amazing to watch!
In the last several days I’ve watched them struggle with a GoPro, the toilet, Microsoft Outlook and the puzzle-like storage covers. It’s absolutely a sitcom out there.
