What a beautiful day to move forward—
to leave unpleasant memories in the past
and look toward a brighter future.
Grateful to walk this journey with people
who share the same passion, vision,
and commitment to building something greater.
Onward and upward —

🎉 Celebrated Amir’s birthday today at BBL!
Great to see our team come together — science, friendship, and a good cake.
Happy Birthday, Amir! 🎂🎈
Thanks to my friend Linda Ma, I had the chance to visit Eli Lilly, home of the breakthrough GLP-1 weight-loss drug Mounjaro.
Separately, great to meet my friend Simon Tang during the trip.
A day of innovation and good friends.
🍁 Early morning, carrying Lele to fulfill X’s duty as a voter 🍁
Crisp air, clear blue sky, and the trees glowing red with autumn leaves 🍂
A peaceful morning walk to the polling place — embracing both the beauty of the season and the spirit of civic responsibility. 🗳️🇺🇸

🌿 Starting something new? Don’t rush to define what to do—start by choosing who to do it with.

Weekend Reflection
A noble person speaks with clarity and integrity.
A petty person whispers slander behind others.
In the end, each of us must choose—virtue or base impulses. That choice reveals our true nature.
Packed house at #ASBMR2025 for our special session “Crying Wolff: 130 Years of Wolff’s Law.”
Thrilled to join outstanding scientists showcasing how mechanical force—from cells to mice, rats, and humans—shapes bone structure. 🦴🔬👏
On my way to Seattle for the ASBMR (American Society for Bone and Mineral Research) Annual Meeting! Excited to share our outstanding scientific program and reconnect with colleagues. 🛫📚✨
Stress testing ChatGPT-5: Can it teach biomechanics for me? Almost. I asked it to write a realistic experience, and it deleted the incorrect parts along with the prompts 🤭. Conclusion: Job security for now 😉,we'll see in a few years 🤔

Last week: It’s been a while since I had pufferfish—still delicious! From sashimi to hot pot, every dish was well prepared. Most pufferfish today are farmed and safe. My first time brought slight numbness, but not this time—just pure enjoyment. Thanks to my friend for the safe and satisfying feast!
Morning light on silver wings.
A flash trip to Chicago—for friendship, reflection,
and wisdom on the Asian American future. ✈️🌤️

Breakfast, Goodbyes, and Becoming Great by Choice
The Bone Bioengineering Lab hosted a warm breakfast gathering to send off our AAASE high school student interns. Scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, fresh fruit, bagels, and laughter filled the room—what a great way to close this chapter!
The Bone Bioengineering Lab is located on the 3rd floor of Engineering Terrace at Columbia, one level below campus ground level. Slow leaks from the ceiling, gotten worse. Facilities still haven’t been able to identify the source of the leak. Install a series of pans to catch the dripping water. 😞
Sushi Ouji on Prince Street — truly worthy of its place among New York’s Top 100 restaurants! 🌟
Each piece of sushi was crafted to perfection by the chef right in front of us — the temperature, texture, and flavor were all exquisite.
Thanks to my two sons for this early Father’s Day dinner ❤️.
Back in action! After a productive stay-battical this semester, I’m now back full-time in the office. Already thinking ahead to plan a more intentional sabbatical next spring—but for now, excited to re-engage fully with research, mentoring, and lab life. Let’s go! 💪#AcademicLife #ColumbiaBME
Summer is here. Graduate students and summer students in the lab kick off the summer. It takes a while to re-build the lab after stepping down as the Department Chair. Look forward to solving Wolff’s Law and find new cure for Osteoarthritis 💪💪 💪
See you tonight or in the morning:-)
