A lot of people who told me my $14k cargo e-bike was expensive and impractical really want me to have sympathy for them that they’re spending a lot on gas for their $50k SUV right now

Once again I cross my fingers that my beloved bakfiets lasts 10+ years
Still out here getting groceries by bike every week. I’m pretty sure this is more enjoyable than fighting traffic on I-5 but I wouldn’t know because I haven’t driven in years.
A bike rack with two cargo bikes locked up next to each other.
I get unreasonably excited when I come out from the grocery store and see another cargo bike on the rack next to mine.
Some are certainly wider but the most popular cargo bikes, R&M Load and LvH Bullitt, are no wider than a standard bike’s handlebars. I ride a Load and I find that the biggest issue when riding is turning radius. Storage at home can be a problem too, garage is required imo.
The Elliott Bay Trail is back open with no bridge, and two days ahead of schedule! I happened to ride up just as they were removing the barrier so I got to be the third person to ride across it, I made sure to thank the workers! Looking forward to the @bestsidecycling.com video
Yay! These are the main beefs I had with the new design. Information density still feels a little too low but that’s minor really.

I’m still just out here getting my groceries on the cargo bike

This is a sensory nightmare
Nice looking bike!
Ok sign, if you say so
Yesterday I rode my cargo bike to Ikea in Renton from my house in north Seattle. Protected lanes and nature paths literally the entire way. It was so easy, I’m very impressed.
Honestly until the belt broke it was the most luxurious bike tour I’ve ever been on.
Thanks! It was the only mechanical I didn’t prepare for, thinking it was so unlikely. Learned my lesson on that one!
At least I made it halfway! Now I’m kind of tempted to go back and do the other half this summer when the weather is nicer
Yep! Snapped right in two
First time for me too! Yep it was a Gates
Not now that I’m in Seattle! The bike shop said I’d be rolling again in a day or two :)
Thanks! Not that old, only 4380 miles/2 years so definitely a premature failure
Riding across the I-5 bridge over the Columbia river

After moving the rest of my stuff from Portland to Seattle I thought it would be fun to just ride my cargo bike 200 miles to my new house. What could possibly go wrong? A story in four pictures.
Today I used my cargo bike to haul two big (and heavy!) loads of stuff to the donation center.
Yesterday I used my cargo bike to take a broken ice maker to the recycling center on the other side of town. I forgot to take a picture of it with the cover off so you’ll just have to trust me that there’s an ice maker in there.
A bicycle with a frame that appears to be made from bamboo
Spotted this unique bamboo bike while walking back from lunch today. I couldn’t tell if it was real bamboo or not just by looking but it’s cool looking regardless.
I just made my final student loan payment and I’m officially debt-free for the first time as an adult. I’d be crying tears of joy if I weren’t so exhausted. If they forgave student loans tomorrow and I got nothing I’d still support it, those loans are predatory.
Thank you! ☺️
It’s my birthday today and I spent it doing one of my favorite things - taking my good girl for a bike ride.
I saw this very cool looking cargo bike at the farmer’s market today. I’ve never seen this brand before, the frame is so unique, it looks like only the rear wheel pivots so you end up steering from the back.
Tbh this whole time I thought my patron dues were specifically going towards Pokémon themed luxury cookware.
Our rating systems need an overhaul. A vehicle’s safety score shouldn’t ignore the harm it inflicts on those outside of it. Death and destruction caused by reckless design should be factored into its overall rating.
I’ve backed you guys for five years now and in that time it’s the only subscription I haven’t canceled for some amount of time. Honestly it’s only become a better value in that time.
