10th #BookSky of 2026. Quite a disturbing tale this, topics cover necrophilia & paedophilic murder. But despite being brutal it is also gripping through it's twists, and beyond the great reveal there is a fantastic finale. First in a series that I'll continue despite the very graphic narrative.

I remember having that back in the day.
Absolutely, I was off school for ages with glandular fever when it was released, I played it at least twice a day every day for weeks.

Still heavily influenced by reading the Stuart Adamson book last week, and this week's purchase new Joe Jackson album.
Best live act in the UK right now.
Last couple of times I've seen them, Booth said they won't be playing Sit Down, but then did both times anyway.
Sometimes is such a good set closer.
I'm more concerned about Oliver than any Bournemouth player tbh.
What a fantastic encounter.
Overall, an interesting account of behind the scenes, allowing daylight upon magic. I couldn't help coming away wishing for a bit more. It won't affect my thoughts on him as a man nor my love for the music of Big Country, even the albums that the record label nearly ruined are records I cherish
5/5
Oh for sure, not helped by the music press wanking on about bagpipes even though that was the first album where the effects were used, and/or blasting them for pompous anthems which was more a reflection of lazy journalism rather than what was actually being released.
Stuart's addiction clearly made things difficult for the band and his private life whilst he was drinking. The story has to be told, but not much of it paints him in a great light.
My gripe would be that there isn't much to balance it out, there's no positive chapters detailing his sober years.

The overall tone comes across as quite negative once The Crossing is dealt with.
None of the remaining band members seem to like any of the further releases that much. Partly because of label interference. I am one who hopes the Millar version of The Seer will one day be released.

The first third of the book focuses on The Skids, and doesn't really say much about Stuart himself. Skids were a bit hit and miss for me, so whilst interesting it was very much the support act.
Once the author moves onto the Big Country era Adamson moves more centrally to the narrative.

9th book of the year. Long awaited. Big Country were my 1st gig, 1st band I saw more than once, and the 1st band I travelled out of Bristol to see. Not seen any of the post Adamson line-ups
Not many celebrity deaths hit me, probably only Stuart Adamson and Terry Hall tbh.

@tykebrahe.bsky.social 4th lowest league attendance at Ashton Gate of the season today btw.
U2 any good? Not had a chance to listen yet.
I remember when Robson was going to be the saviour of English cricket, seems a very long time ago. I'd probably still take him ahead of Crawley.
Had no idea that Barnett had a new album coming out, will keep an eye out for it.
Book 8 of 2026, masterpiece from David Nicholls. You experience all possible emotions reading this. His 3rd novel, and all have lead male as inept & completely flawed. Emma is the real hero of the story, she never gives up even when Dex is an arsehole, many would walk away. #StSwithensDay

Record fair in Clevedon, got a decent haul of 10 cds for less than £20. Nothing overly exciting, mostly stuff I had on vinyl/cassette back in the day.
Again you are under estimating the general apathy of Bristolians. If I wanted a house up north I'd take up your bet. 3 home games left, the first might have an uptick as it is on Good Friday. Norwich game definitely won't, nor will Stoke unless a load of old-schoolers have arranged a row. We'll see.
I think you are over estimating the pull of Hodgson. Struber wasn't great, but was popular by a large section of the support. The thought that appointing Hodgson will bring part timers back to the stadium is almost as ridiculous as the appointment itself.
Why is Viz's Mr Logic wearing a fucking england kit, assume it's AI.

There's a theme to this one, back in the 80s if I saw a decent review in Record Mirror and liked the name of the band, I would buy a single and if I liked that I'd buy the album too. Here's four of those bands, had a nostalgic Saturday morning
Last season was an anomaly in that the strong Championship sides all had a bad year, rather than City being great.
Culture is the issue rather than manager, sell at first opportunity and buy below. Has been since I've had an interest (1977-78).
Their way out of the Championship is down not up.
All first choice defenders are injured, so are playing a midfielder, a wing-back and a guy who has 2 months experience of English football.
Sold 2 of the best players in Jan as were running down contracts and would have left for nothing in summer, the rest gave up trying after that. Poor side now.

That's a fine quartet.
Beautiful, this means he can do it again next goal, right?
