Pickled onion Space Raiders are the bomb, but Transforma snack are gluten free and I'm coeliac. They are definitely mid though in the pantheon of crisps, but I'll take 'can eat' over quality control

My 1-day event for ~100, coffee, lunch + wine, speakers costs, badges etc a bit under £6000. It helps if your chosen venue doesn't have only overpriced catering options that you are obliged to use

It's very dependent on your venue which will be most of your costs. If you can get an organisation, eg a university, to provide discounted or free space, that's going to help. Also depends on how many - finding a free room for 25 easier than a free room for 250

Lovely. Reminds me of what they say in Belfast, 'If you can see the hills, it's going to rain; if you can't see the hills, it's raining'.
In this case, both!

David Lynch smirking in an interview

-Believe it or not, Eraserhead is my most spiritual film.
-Elaborate on that.

(PDF) How the Internet came to be PDF | On Jan 1, 1993, V Cerf published How the Internet came to be | Find, read and cite all the research you need on ResearchGate

What strikes me from Peter's account and others like Cerf's from 1993 is the importance of not so much the technical aspects as that of like-minded people who believed what was possible striving to overcome all the usual blocks of bureaucracy and funding and time

How Britain got its first internet connection – by the late pioneer who made it happen Peter Kirstein had to overcome various hurdles to connect the UK to the internet, including intransigent governments, dismissive industry and the taxman.

So glad to have published this years after Peter wrote it for me, and 5 years to the day since he died. Gracious and full of interesting tales the couple of times we met, he invited me to his Marconi awarding where I met Vint Cerf, Bob Kahn and other luminaries

I don't know, most of the commenters calling it deranged drivel. Sometimes it is good to let them hoist themselves by their own petard.
