In an ideal world everyone counts. But we don’t live in that world. The two people killed in DC will get a lot of attention and deservedly so it’s tragic. But the same attention and outrage should be shown for the thousands killed in Palestine but sadly I don’t see that happening

Criminals deserve due process because due process is literally how we determine whether someone is, *in fact*, a criminal

You’re right but I’m talking more about a general strike type thing. This is a red alert moment we need more than just one off protest that as you pointed out the media is refusing to show

Undoubtedly true

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

It says a lot about who we are as Americans that there is not mass protest happening over what the Trump administration is doing. It’s clear a large chunk of Americans do not see a certain subset of immigrants as human beings deserving of the same rights and privileges they have

- Came to the U.S. at 16 after fleeing gang death threats
- In 2019, an immigration judge granted him withholding of removal, a legal status protecting him from deportation after finding he'd likely be persecuted if returned
- No U.S. criminal record
- Married to a U.S. citizen, father to a 5-year-old disabled son
- Regularly complied with ICE check-ins
- ICE admitted it knew he had legal protection—but put him on the deportation flight anyway
- Not on the manifest—added as an "alternate"
- Now held in a prison for gang members, despite no charges or verified gang affiliation
The government now argues U.S. courts can't order his return.
His wife recognized him in a propaganda photo released by El Salvador's president—head forced down, frog-marched by masked guards.
ICE calls it an "administrative error."
Then says it was done "in good faith."

I’d like to ask every single New Yorker who’s remotely left of center to get actively involved in your local Democratic Party chapter with the goal of driving Schumer, Gillibrand, Hochul, Adams, Cuomo and all the other dead wood into retirement.

@aoc.bsky.social Begging you to primary Schumer. I will canvass, make phone calls, donate, bully my friends and family into doing the same. Taking the party back from these feckless fools is a must in order to save our democracy

For me, fighting fascism has nothing to do with thinking I’ll win. I don’t fight because there’s an inevitable outcome, I fight because I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t do something.
