You can run a credible campaign for a House seat in a rural state legislature for $50,000. If socialists think they have some secret sauce to win over rural voters, the DSA could easily fund dozens of candidates for those seats.

Perhaps, but ultimately what feels good is up to the individual. The state can and should maximise the opportunity to do so for as many people, but I don't think it can or should try to maximise individual emotional satisfaction.

The point of politics, at least of liberal/social democratic politics, isn't to make you "feel good", because frankly that it is impossible.

It is to liberate people from various forms of oppression-social, economic, political, etc, and allow them to live the lives they want.

Rural voters don't vote for who gives them goodies. They vote because of culture.

If a Dem does something that increases welfare, or builds a park, or whatever, they will decry it as socialism and stealing their money _even if they are the impoverished recipients_ of it.
