here’s a lil demo btw (not that you can get much of an idea of how it sounds through a phone video, but you can get an idea of the fact you can actually hear the high end)

i was genuinely having fun just hearing myself through a microphone earlier, it sounds so crispy!!!

the mids and low end are still a little bit crunchy but they have like 25 years of wear and tear on them. and i’m not about to buy new mid diaphragms and woofers lol (well…maybe at some point some new mid diaphragms would be in order). but anyway holy shit does the high end sound good now.

@kirakira you will be delighted to hear that these things sound fuckin _fantastic_ now

also you might notice the desktop has moved a little bit, i moved it over a bit for some more legroom. also it can breathe now! not that thermals were ever an issue, but i think they should be even better now.

and with uhhh...slightly less coil whine? it still crackles every once in a while but it seems a lot better than before. idk i'm happy to have a computer again.

strangely enough, when i took it apart to take a look and see if anything was visibly going wrong a lil while ago it was _pristine_ so...i really dont know

oh in _other_ news of things slowly failing around my studio, my subwoofer has continued to do the thing where the power led stays on when i turn it off, but now it makes fun hissing and screeching noises when i turn it off too!!!

btw monitor is an LG MP59G if you're curious.

its been doing this thing where depending on what screen i have up the whole screen will get a bit of a green tint to it sometimes, and now its doing some strange striping and a bit of (temporary?) burn-in whenever i open signal lol.
