That was a regular thing for my family at Christmas too (and I also rarely got much).
Thought I'd write a bit about my username and how I occasionally hope someone would recognize it from another corner of the Internet: blog.durinthal.net/whats-in-a-n...
I do *sometimes* have thoughts I like to put out into the world rather than keep to myself.
To my friends from LiveJournal I still think about you Wonder if you finally quit, Do you still speak to your mom? I remember when you went to Japan How you swore you'd never forgive him. I can't remember to take my meds but I remember you wanted to live on a houseboat. It's a strange intimacy, all of us unspooling across decades of internet space Like balls of yarn leaving a trail behind us of everywhere and everyone we've ever been I hope you got your houseboat. I hope you got everything. -Hayley DeRoche

I grew up with the can (my grandma was the only other person in the family that liked it) but have been making my own for years now, not necessarily better but just something different.
Ooh that sounds like my kind of good time.
I just finished Rayearth recently, sad I missed out on it back in the day.
Today felt like Sunday for me too, weird.
My mind has been so thoroughly infected by baseball anime that I'm currently watching the spring high school tournament streaming live from Japan. I'm also amazed I live in an era when that's even possible.
@toxygen.bsky.social Thank you both, it was indeed a day! I'm finally traveling again and I'm considering heading out west at some point, would love to swing by if I can.
Civilization VII is out and I'm enjoying it even if it still needs some work.
And if you can't use that, FreeTaxUSA is still a better alternative despite the sketchy-sounding name.
Made plans to hang out with a friend this weekend after being unsociable for the rest of the month.
I have a similar mindset. There are some things I love that I'd like to revisit but also there are shiny *new* (to me) things and maybe they're good too.
Fun! I need to get around to the rest of FMP at some point, only saw the first season a while ago.
Have you given the new Ranma a try? I've avoided it as I wanted to watch the original first but haven't seen that either.
Okay everybody hit me with your top 4 anime.
I could spend weeks debating this with myself but here's an impulsive four with many other options available.
2003 FMA is a good pick, I should rewatch that sometime since it's been nearly 20 years for me.

PAX has reignited my desire to play TTRPGs again, but I'm tired of D&D.
Vaguely considering trying to start a West Marches style (pool of players, more exploration than narrative) game in Pathfinder 2e but getting good people for that will be hard; also need to learn digital tools.
The Grand Hall of the Pennsylvania Convention Center with a large purple banner reading "Welcome to PAX Unplugged" hanging over the hallway, flanked by escalators going up that also have purple lighting.
Good night, PCC. Good work. Sleep well. I'll most likely PAX you next year.
"Big Breakfast" from Winkel: three eggs, potatoes, pumpernickel, scrapple (!!), and a salad.
So big it has a garden.
Tray with a fairly flat bread bowl containing cheese and an egg yolk, with mustard and pickles on the side.

Skillet with a layer of sausage gravy and a biscuit on top (also covered in gravy). Below the gravy some potatoes and peppers are peeking out.
My breakfast ethos: smother it in gravy.
Christmas tree in a plaza with a crowd of people around and the Philadelphia City Hall in the background.
Warm stroopwafel in a paper sleeve.
Christmas Village in Philly is nice and has tasty things like stroopwafels.
I miss y'all too! Now that I'm traveling again I got to get back out west sometime.
On my way to another PAX, the first time I'm working one since before the pandemic. Looking forward to being among friends and surrounded by joyful enthusiasm again.
Yeah, now and then I take a look for games based on anime and I'm usually disappointed. Super Robot Wars is an exception (if you like mecha) but only the most recent few entries have gotten a release outside of Japan.
Iced bubble tea in a gloved hand, outside in late autumn.
I didn't grow up with Dunkin iced drinks year-round so best I can do as a Massachusetts transplant when it's freezing:
