Every year I do a data recap of my writing life, resolutions for the following year, and an essay. Here it is for 2025! www.ecfullersbooks.com/2026/02/06/2...

If you submit three poems to a magazine, is each one a separate submission? Or, are they collectively counted as one submission?
Translunar Travelers Lounge welcomes submissions of speculative fiction 5000 words and under. Full details are at the link.https://translunartravelerslounge.com/submissions/
A chunky cat laying on a purple sea to summit comfort SI backpacking sleeping pad.
My cat likes my new sleeping pad for bikepacking. I have a Durston tent and poles on order to replace the Amazon tent I’ve been using. I justify these purchases by telling myself that if I ever have to bug out, I will be comfortable.
A great poem to end the workday

My first and last jobs at my Alma mater were asking alumni for money. First, working in a call center. I was the poor undergrad who reminded you of your youth. Then in the alumni center doing research on wealthy alumni, estimating the value of their houses, salaries, spousal salaries, etc.
Have six stories pending in the slush pile, a fantasy map commission heading to the second round, seeking an editor for my sequel still, and grinding away on drafts of two novellas. My biggest hope is that all the short stories and novellas find their home this year
On average, the stories I accept have amassed 6 rejections before they're submitted to FF. (A surprising (to me) number of these were sent to FF as their first or second stop, which I appreciate, but chase that big money, folks!)
Lines up pretty close to the average in the Grinder's thread!

This is good! The ending got me.
Legally blonde screenshots with Elle dressed in red white and blue: Oh my god! You look like the 4th of July Makes me want to support public libraries real bad
this country’s gotten very few things right but public libraries are one of them
But you don’t have to feel good! You can be angry, you can be sad, you can (I’d argue you will) be anxious. Just go! Duties have to be done no matter how you feel about them. Show up to your council meetings, vote in every election you can, and go protest!
—I was BEING fake, bc I thought I didn’t care enough or in the right way.
Eventually I realized that it’s better to be there in body rather than in spirit. Bc you see with your own eyes that people give a damn, and there are a lot of them! I leave protests feeling good about doing good.
The biggest reasons I didn’t go to protests before was bc I didn’t know how to find one. Then, bc I was afraid of violence. Then bc have anyone to go with. Then bc I thought that the protest would be a trap and I’d be arrested. I was worried —
Are they using the same handle across social media accounts? Are they an individual or part of an organization?
3. If it seems legit, go to the protest. Wear good walking shoes, dress for the weather, and bring throat drops bc the chanting will make you hoarse.
That’s it. Seriously.
1. Follow your city’s subreddit, local Facebook pages or Instagram accounts
2. If a digital flyer pops up with a date and time and a protest announcement, and you can make it, check the history of the user who posted the flyer. Have they posted similar things in the past? -
In honor of the 4th of July, I’m going to take a minute to talk about how I found and participated in my first protest. It’s probably not the best way to do it, but it did work over and over and over again. 🧵

Super happy with my haul, especially the philosophy books for writing research.
The best part is that most of them were from used bookstores. #GardnersUsedBooks in Tulsa, OK, #ProsperosBooks and #TurnsolBooks both in Kansas City, MO, and #MidwayUsed&RareBooks in Minneapolis, MN.
Three stacks of books, with a cat for scale. Not pictured is a fourth stack, hidden behind the top left stack.
I’m going on vacation. I should buy some books.
It’s my niece’s first birthday. I should buy her some books… and get some for me.
I’m passing through a city on my way to vacation for lunch. I should visit the bookstore.
I’m on vacation. I should visit this bookstore.
There’s another bookstore—
These sff stories just write themselves sometimes.
My curiosity is sated and I will never go again.
Most entertaining advertisement I’ve ever visited. The gift shop was excellently curated: variety packs of spam, music makers, stuffed animal spam, a cycling jersey and cap with spam….
The inside of the Museum of Spam
Years ago, I referenced the #SPAMMuseum in the first short story I wrote that was accepted to a lit mag. tulsaccreview.com/calling-all-...
On Thurs, I finally visited.
