SSPE — delayed and progressive brain damage from measles infection — is sadly something we’ll see more frequently moving forward. FYI, symptoms can be delayed by decades after initial infection www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

Hey out there -- if you have information about the job cuts at FDA, CDC, NIH or HHS at large, we'd love to hear from you. We're looking, in particular, for information about exactly what cuts were made.

You can reach me on Signal, the encrypted messaging system, at MattHerper.92. DMs are open.

Spontaneous pulmonary-twist secondary to Legionnaire’s disease

Apparently "pulmonary twist" is a thing. In this case, in the context of Legionella pneumonia, the L upper lobe became twisted & necrotic, apparently due to infiltration and increased weight of lingula

I never said (either here or during the actual discussion) that CIN doesn’t exist. It was a respectful and lighthearted review of the literature

Two photos. On the left, a black rolling chair (though the legs and wheels are out of sight) in a doctor's office. A post-it note with professional type is stuck to the top portion, where a person's back would rest. On the right, a close up of the post-it note where one can read "DOCTOR CHAIR" typeset onto it.

Children receive so many more vaccines these days. Is this ok?

Short answer: This is ok. Today’s vaccines target more diseases and do so more efficiently than older vaccines.
