A quote from Rt. Rev. Yunan Tombe Trille, the Bishop of El Obeid in Sudan. "The impact of this war cannot be measured by statistics alone. It is seen in the lives of mothers searching for food, children deprived of education, young people forced from their homes, and families mourning loved ones. The conflict has strained the resilience of churches, mosques, traditional leaders, humanitarian agencies, and every community struggling to keep hope alive. Yet despite these immense hardships, the Sudanese spirit has not been extinguished. We celebrate new life rising from the dead. This is our Easter."
With the 3-year anniversary of the war in Sudan, Easter and Eid al-Fitr all falling in quick succession, the Bishop of El Obeid issued a message praising the spirit of the Sudanese people in the face of immense humanitarian challenges.

There are serious concerns about violations of International Humanitarian Law in Lebanon.
In response, various international, national and local NGOs have come together to call for the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure. ⤵️

We wish our Orthodox sisters and brothers a blessed Pascha on 12 April
Happy Easter from all of us here at CAFOD!
Our Director Christine Allen recorded this message thanking supporters for all the support over Lent and showing that a better world needs all of us. 💚
The Easter Vigil at St Chad's Cathedral. The greatest and most noble of all Solemnities, celebrated by Archbishop Bernard Longley.
Prayerful congratulations to the hundreds of people who will have been welcomed into the Church at Easter Vigil services across the Archdiocese.
Reflection for Easter Sunday. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia! www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=...
There is a great sense of joyful anticipation in the lives, families and parishes of all those being baptised as adults or Received into Full Communion with the Catholic Church this Easter.
We pray for God’s blessing in their lives and a reminder of the dignity of faith.
After a couple of days sitting in silence, with the little chamber organ being used for giving notes and any gentle congregational singing support during a period of unaccompanied music, the Walker organ will burst into life at the Gloria during this evening’s Easter Vigil.

Good Friday Solemn Liturgy at St Chad's Cathedral. 'It is finished'.
Thank you to all those who took part in this morning's ecumenical Good Friday Walk of Witness in Birmingham.
Together we marked Christ’s journey to the cross.
Photographs now on our website:
Mass of the Lord’s Supper last night, Holy Thursday, at St Chad's Cathedral.
“Maundy” comes from the Latin mandatum, or commandment, reflecting Jesus’ words “A new commandment I give you, that you love one another as I have loved you.” [Jn 13:34].

To those who are honouring Good Friday today, we at Restore join you in remembering Jesus' crucifixion & the cost of sacrificial love for the sake of the world 🧡
We seek to express this love in our welcome to refugees and asylum seekers in Birmingham.

A photo showing three empty crosses. "When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, 'it is finished' and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit."
We know that to encounter God within the crucifixion is to be reminded that we cannot ignore the truth of suffering. But it is also a reminder that God is in it with us.
As we grieve the loss around us, we can commit to working for a better future.

On #GoodFriday, a story that resonates today: 'It was post-war 1946. Lots of young people wanted to do something in reparation for the war. They gathered from all across Europe and they gathered in Vézelay and they carried wooden crosses.'

Reflection for Maundy Thursday, the Lord's Supper. I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=...
A photo showing a pair of hands washing a foot in a bowl of water. "When Jesus had to wash his disciples' feet, it was a gesture to say, every leader is to lead by example...I have to walk the talk." Fr Johanes Zevito.
Today is Holy Thursday when the annual feet washing takes place.
In Zimbabwe, Fr Johanes Zevito spoke to us about how the example set by Jesus' humility is a reminder that the Gospel must be lived out.
