But it’s society, and the world as a whole, that is sick. We’ve always existed, for as long as humanity has existed we have been ever-present. History has just been altered to make it seem like we haven’t because that’s what the west does when it doesn’t like something.

Lack of representation mixed with so much abuse is always going to lead to an increase in mental health struggles, and that is why this day is so important. We’ve lost so many people because the society has been warped to think we aren’t normal. That we’re sick.

This is my first year out as Gender-fluid. I’ve always struggled with my gender but not always consciously, and I had no idea what or who I actually was because there was so little representation of how broad the Trans umbrella is. How can people know who they are that way?

Today is Trans Day of Remembrance. This day is always important, but I think this year it’s especially important after so much targeted harassment and abuse as we’ve been used as political fodder, and the rise of the TERF movement. Through it all people forget that we are human.
