“But when I hear people talk about immigrants, I see my mom and dad. I see my neighbors and my friends. I see people with stories, with difficult pasts and fears so big that they keep them up at night. I see people with dreams and hopes for a better life.” (2/2)
“When you talk about immigrants, you see faceless people in your mind. You see an evil force, which is just here to take something from you.” (1/2)
I have struggled so much to figure out what I need to say about recent events surrounding ICE, and deportations, and the villainization of immigrants, and I keep coming back to all the things that pushed me to write this book in the first place, and to this sentiment in particular:

I saw someone describe I MIGHT BE IN TROUBLE as “if David and Moira Rose had to get rid of a dead body,” and I can’t think of a more accurate comparison 😅☠️
Thank you, Bryon!! 🩷🩷🩷
Just when I think I have a flawless system in place to make sure I never miss a book with an author as the main character, I find this one from @danaleman.bsky.social that I’ve never heard of on the new release wall at my library. And it’s fantastic. Go libraries for discovery!

Thank you so much for reading!!! 🩷
The cover of the book “I Might Be in Trouble” by Daniel Aleman. It had a pink background, and two of the main characters, David and Stacey, are dragging what seems to be a limp body across the page
Finished @danaleman.bsky.social’s “I Might Be In Trouble” last night
It really wasn’t about the dead body, ya see 😉
A wonderful page turner with lots of introspection, fun dialogue, and some much needed perspective
I’ll be rereading it before the year is out
