As a comic writer who hires artists for my projects, I've had the privilege of looking over comic artist portfolios in person and online.

I thought it might be helpful to share some of what I look for as I go through portfolios in order to help those of you who are newer.

We have cameras set up so that we can check on her and make sure she’s doing alright, and even though I never get to see her when I’m in there, it’s nice to have a little creature there.

My studio was overrun with mice, so when we fixed it up and kicked them out, we got a Studio Cat to keep them away.

This is Artemisia. She is feral and hates people, but she is thriving in the studio and hunting all night. I’ve only see her with my own eyes twice.

We call her our employee.

but god forbid a child's toy isnt "mess free" and requires some effort.

a child's ability to dream and imagine things and then learn to execute on those thoughts is INCREDIBLY important to their development. Whether they grow up to be an artist or an accountant, the ability to have to think about HOW they can create something is crucial to their ability to problem solve

this is the biggest abomination i've ever seen. Marketed as "endless creativity" for kids but it doesn't let them do ANYTHING. You give kids a box that they just speak their wishes into and it creates them.

PLEASE keep this shit far away from your children, it is dangerous and irresponsible.
