I loved this so much during my PhD!!! It is so useful and clear

No, your voice is not loud enough. No, that's not the issue. Just use the microphone.
I've had some for gynecological journals! A scan just now of my inbox contained invites for conferences or journals relating to nursing and electrical power π€·π½ββοΈπ
I feel very seen by this thread π! I have a similarly wide range of invites in fields that I know nothing about!
Jeff Bezos has $222 billion.
If he paid my wealth tax this year, we could fund insulin in America for everyone who needs it plus free school lunch for every kid in Texasβand have plenty of money left over.
And Bezos would still have $215 billion dollars to spare.
Promo slide for Mary Carty's talk. There is a picture of Mary, who is a white woman with dark brown shoulder length hair. She is smiling and looking in the camera direction. The talk title is in the top right of the slide, and it is: From fragmentation to convergence: Architecting conscious systems change, towards a shared language and practice. There are logos for the Empowerment, Inclusiveness and Equity Working group, and for the European citizen science association working groups in the bottom corners of the image.
HEY YOU! Are you interested in shared language and practice? Maybe also interested in #STEM? π§ͺ
Then join us tomorrow (25th March) at 14.00 CET for a webinar by the fab @marycarty.bsky.social. Let's focus on what we share rather than what divides us!

This makes me feel very uneasy. I'm no fancy web designer, but at least I know that you see my work and me for who I am, not for what Google thinks I am...

Tagging @ecsa.ngo and all the #CitizenScience crew, this is one not to miss!

See also the article below (H/T to @physicsworld.bsky.social where I read about it first), which shares how biased collaboration and citation patterns are responsible for driving the gender gap in physics.

I agree with what @drheaddamage.bsky.social is saying. Because whether we like it or not, citations as they currently stand are wildly inequitable.

To be honest, it is one of the coolest things in terms of how they do it. Previously folks used cat eyelashes to mount the crystals or clear nail varnish to stick the crystals to the mount and protect them from losing solvent. Now so much of this is automated or adapted to minimise disturbances.
No need to apologise, that is a MAGNIFICENT photo and making me miss Edinburgh. I always love Edinburgh in Spring!
That sounds like a delightful offer. I would love recs for gorgeous picture books, as littlies I know are mad about them!
Oh this is gorgeous!
We're thrilled to announce the Ctrl-Z Award, a US$2,500 prize for researchers βwho discover substantial errors in their published work and take meaningful steps to correct the scientific record."

This looks like a good programme for minoritised writers in the UK who are unsigned and interested in writing a book about health. Includes Β£2,000 bursary, mentoring, classes, travel and access fund. www.londonwriterscentre.org.uk/project/well...
I don't like spoiling it for folks, but let's just say that I am still very proud of this piece I wrote and that it's highly relevant to the topic of women in science. Who we choose to shout about or cite matters!

I think sometimes this is clear in the choice of words. Folks translate directly into English or play around with options in the thesaurus, and then end up using words that are not frequently used in modern English. As an example, 'moreover' appears often in non-natives' writing.
Me too and I don't even have Smriti's fabulous notes! Hope all is well!
I second this and also add @hellociaran.bsky.social and @selkies.bsky.social and @kirstenshiel.bsky.social. So much talent!!!
Booooo I'm sorry to hear that.
I am finding these discussions fascinating. I want people to know that it is my voice woven through in my talks and in my papers. I am now also imagining the type of literature we would be left with if we did continue down the line of 'the less personality the better'. I suspect it would be so dry!
This write up does a decent job of explaining - many of the film actors reprised their roles to voice act for the game!

π― agree. And they did something very cool that @karynmoy.bsky.social might be particularly interested. There are a few places where the movie feels like it falls short or is missing a bit. The PS2 game added small snippets to fill these gaps in a way that makes so much sense.
Oh me too! I want to be able to see myself in the writing and the stories!!!
I mean do they even understand what leg day is? I don't π
Surely they are just sharing a subliminal message telling you to do some frog jumps as part of your workout?
That is very sad. There are so many cool things you could do. Collaborations with local artists! Projects with young artists! So much opportunity π.
Commission some cool chemistry art for the walls! No idea how to justify it but it would make you smile on a daily basis π!
