On the 5th one - there's quite a few things done to overall strategy to put Ovechkin in spots to succeed that without those all there I think the team in a few different areas is able to "make up" for the 30 Goals going out of the door if he retires this season.

I'm annoyed on the 3rd one... Such an oddly shaped country and I took a stab at one end instead of the other

A front office not afraid to make bold moves may make some bold moves to strengthen this team for the medium term as opposed to short term.

Season's not over but also not sure it matters at this point what happens in these final four games for what the off-season will look like.

Improvements needed are more than just "get a 1st line winger"

Some will come from within, but even those from inside the current team probably aren't enough alone.

A lot depends on what Ovechkin does, but I'm fascinated what this off-season could hold for the Caps.

I hope that with the way this season has seemed to end for the Caps that most fans recognize that just staying the course ain't going to be good enough if this team has aspirations on seriously competing for Stanley Cups in the short or medium term future.

The Capitals are 6-2-2 in their last 10 and in only one of those 10 games have they outshot their opponent (vs PHI, 10 games ago)

They have as many sub 40% Corsi games as they do 45% or greater games (and only one above 50%, same game against the Flyers 10 games ago).
