This is a common business model, the city is doing what many commercial businesses do. They should be able to meet the July 2026 timeline in the OB3 for solar credits. And the risk of flat electricity rates is pretty darn low. Overall I support this approach.

Natural gas prices are low, but your monthly gas bill is up. Here's why Gas utility bills are rising even though natural gas prices are down. That's because a much larger share of your gas bill now goes to infrastructure instead of fuel.

Did you know that <1/3 of your gas bill goes towards the gas itself? NPR digs into how gas utilities are maximizing profits off of billions in gas pipeline spending, leaving you with higher bills no matter how little gas you use.

While it may encourage electrification, it discourages solar, not sure this is a win.

How California energy policy is holding back a game changing climate technology OPINION: Without major changes to the way Californians pay for energy, we’ll lose the precious opportunities new electric technologies provide.

High electricity prices are the single biggest roadblock to decarbonizing buildings and deploying heat pumps at scale.

We can solve these problems, but it’ll take public awareness (outrage?) & policy changes.

I wrote about it in the @sfchronicle.com today - www.sfchronicle.com/opinion/open...

California halts building code updates in a blow to electrification Local jurisdictions may still be able to adopt ambitious codes that help homes ditch gas and promote heat pumps under exceptions in the new law, AB 130.

California lawmakers have decided to pause updates to carbon-pollution-slashing building codes — for six years. So what's next? Advocates highlight some exceptions in the law that might allow localities to push forward on their climate goals anyway. www.canarymedia.com/articles/car...

My phone started a loud alert and then a few seconds later I felt a big bump (I'm near coast), that was the larger one. Interesting that the alert got to me before the quake.

They could have done both! Now they will allow developers to build more homes with fossil fuel infrastructure that will cost more and pollute the community.
