Political cartoonists spend careers hunting for one visual detail that carries all the weight. Marco Rubio’s Florsheims just handed it to them: a two-inch gap between heel and leather. They could draw just that for years and tell the whole story.

"sicko fan" and "sycophant" mean the same thing, so it's kinda a mute point.
🚨BREAKING: State election leaders and voting rights advocates across the country are blasting U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi for exploiting the killing of a U.S. citizen in Minneapolis by a federal immigration officer to “blackmail” Minnesota into handing over access to its unredacted voter rolls.
Before the march yesterday, we sang together in Salt Lake City. “Lean on Me” as a reminder that community is how we endure, and how we resist oppression and political cruelty.
I can't put into words the feeling of watching our government, a hive of evil antisocial filth, the absolute worst humanity has to offer, colliding with the best. Ordinary people trying to help each other, risking everything to stand up for what's plainly, unambiguously fair and right. It's unreal
Well, well, well….
The K-shaped economy
To little, too late. I signed up for Tidal, and it's great.
“A rare GOP rebellion on Capitol Hill rattled the West Wing and embarrassed Trump. And although the White House likes to project a political image of never surrendering, a pair of retreats in the past few days has punctured Trump’s aura of invincibility” www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...
This NYT map of election results is gorgeous, reader-friendly, and in the case of this 🎁 link, free.

Educators would love that. Having Halloween in the middle of a school week is a nightmare for teachers.
Marie said "let them eat cake", Nero fiddled, and Trump said, "who cares?"
Quick recap:
This is great

Fixed it for you, @NYTimes. Oh, and by the way, @ChrisVanHollen — he's NOT coming back.
The White House just posted this on X.
Evil degenerates are running the government
WILKINSON, Circuit Judge, with whom KING and THACKER, Circuit Judges, join: Upon review of the government's motion, the court denies the motion for an emergency stay pending appeal and for a writ of mandamus. The relief the government is requesting is both extraordinary and premature. While we fully respect the Executive's robust assertion of its Article II powers, we shall not micromanage the efforts of a fine district judge attempting to implement the Supreme Court's recent decision.
NEW: The Fourth Circuit REJECTS the Trump admin's appeal of Judge Xinis's orders to "facilitate" Kilmar Abrego Garcia's release: "We shall not micromanage the efforts of a fine district judge attempting to implement the Supreme Court's recent decision." storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
It means that if the rule of law is disregarded, by the Executive ignoring due process or court orders, it will lead, eventually, to the death of the law itself.
👍
Logistically impossible. 2.1M troops can’t control 330M people across 3.8M sq miles. Most wouldn’t obey unlawful orders. Resistance would be widespread, decentralized, and hard to suppress.
Instead, we should project firm expectation: the executive must follow the law and obey court orders. Failing to assert this signals surrender, as if we’ve already accepted being overrun.
It’s true the judiciary has limited enforcement power, but constantly emphasizing that fact only feeds a defeatist mindset.
Absolutely. A functioning democracy depends on the rule of law applying to everyone, especially those in power. When we lower our expectations or stay silent in the face of defiance, we’re not being realistic, we’re being complicit.
