Kamala Harris Is Buying Time — But Democrats Are Looking Ahead Her extended book tour keeps 2028 in play. But conversations with Democrats suggest the party may already be searching for its next standard-bearer.

State Senator Ed Sutton, a veteran, is asking an important question about the war with Iran:

How is this any different than what we’ve seen before?

Americans deserve real answers before we let history repeat itself. #SCPol

Heartbroken by news of yet another senseless act of violence this morning at a house of worship. No American should ever fear for their safety - least of all when gathering peacefully to pray - and yet tragedies like this have become frequent.

Future S.C. Guard law enforcement deployments possible - Statehouse Two hundred South Carolina National Guard (SCNG) troops deployed to Washington, D.C., in early August as part of President Donald Trump’s crime crackdown should be back in the Palmetto State by Sept. ...

Editorial: This is not the time of year to send SC National Guard to non-emergencies Hurricane season is at its peak, and SC governor deployed 200 National Guard troops to aid Donald Trump's non-emergency war against crime and homelessness.

Hurricane season is no time for political theater.

Sending 200 SC National Guard troops to DC for a non-emergency is reckless.

Our Guard should be on standby for real disasters at home, not deployed for partisan optics.

SC deserve better.

Hunger still haunts S.C., generations later  - Statehouse Just over a half century ago, one of South Carolina's most formidable political leaders toured some of the state's poorest areas and returned with a warning about one of humanity’s oldest scourges — h...

“There’s no excuse for a child in our state to be hungry.”

Yet, SNAP cuts signed into law in July will leave 300k South Carolinians without food assistance.

We must ask: why are we making these cuts? Why are we giving up in the battle against hunger?

Afghans promised a home in U.S. may face repatriation — and the Taliban Afghans who helped American forces are stuck in limbo as the Trump administration cuts the State Department office for Afghan relocation.

Sending our Afghan allies back to the Taliban would be a stain on America.

We can't rug-pull these brave people twice.

We must honor our promises.

We had a great City, County, State Townhall in West Ashley last night.

Thanks to all the folks who came out. Traffic congestion, sidewalks, traffic signals, and flooding were top citizen concerns.

We will certainly plan more of these events around the district 👍

Heartbroken by the tragic loss of life in Texas.

The campers, families, and rescuers along the Guadalupe River are in our prayers.

This is a painful reminder: weather warning systems save lives. We must restore the National Weather Service.

Let’s be clear:

No Medicaid money in SC funds abortion. Full stop.

This ruling removes contraception, cancer screenings, and pregnancy tests for Medicaid patients.

Cutting essential care isn’t “pro-life.” It’s just cruel.

"No new wars"

So now, where does this end?

How does bombing Iran benefit US interest?

Our own intelligence says Iran does not have a nuclear weapon and they are not close to having a weapon.

Iran will retaliate. Americans will be the target.

This path was avoidable.

If that’s how they treat an elected official, imagine how they’ll treat you for speaking up.

This isn’t normal.

True leaders should be working overtime to deescalate the national tension.

Tough talk is easy. Leadership is hard.

Trump is stoking chaos in CA, and some SC politicians are trying to ride the same wave with performative threats.

This weekend, be a grown-up. Deescalate. Defend free speech.

SC deserve leaders, not wannabe strongmen.

3 found passed out in car atop CofC garage arrested for bevy of guns on campus, later released 3 men were arrested and removed from their car in downtown Charleston for allegedly having guns in a university garage. The men were released from custody.

Insane attitude related to gun safety in SC:

High on drugs, passed out in a college parking garage with 'two AR15 pistols, three Glock handguns and the bevy of ammunition'

Charges dropped because of 'open carry'.

How does this make Charleston safer?

Governor Tim Walz.

I apricated his poignant remarks last week:

"None of us can afford to shy away right now from the hard conversations we need to have. Because we have to come to terms with the fact that the Democratic Party — the party of the working class — lost the working class"

Naval Academy bans Bakari Sellers' book: A story marketed as the South's Black 'Hillbilly Elegy' SC pundit Bakari Sellers' book billed as a Southern peer to "Hillbilly Elegy" was among nearly 400 items pulled from the Naval Academy library.

Pete Hegseth is making our military soft.

He's worried warfighters can't handle words on paper?

Sounds like coddling to me. 🤷

@officialbsellers.bsky.social use this as a marketing opportunity.

Today, SC Senate Dems played smart, ran the clock and blocked some terrible bills.

SC international college students see visa status restored but lawsuits continue • SC Daily Gazette The federal government has restored the visa status of more than a dozen international students at SC colleges, but lawsuits continue.

Several SC international students just had their visas reinstated after sudden, unjust revocations.

This cruelty was met with pushback—and it worked.

SC Democrats are standing up for those targeted by fear-based policies. We won’t back down.
