Hi comic creators and readers 👋

How much would you expect to pay for an indie, self published single issue these days? (22-24 pages)

Keep in mind: indies aren’t Marvel or DC - large pubs can afford to charge less due to other revenue they make.

What do you think? 🤔

Shares appreciated ❤️

Infinity War alone made $1 billion. Just the Avengers films grossed nearly $8 billion.

Disney fired 1000 Marvel staff last week.

“Vital” is a very poor choice of word.

It's very weird to trailer your emotional state to the nation, before the event.

Keir Starmer IS ... angry. And yet still bland. Keir Starmer IS...

BLANGRY MAN 2:
this time it's adenoidal.

This. Art can no longer be honest in case it 'alienates' parts of the audience. But to be honest, there are certainly parts of the audience that I'm more than happy to offend.

Is the most unseemly single feature of British life the media's rush to join an ex post facto consensus? Usually on display in rape cases - eg Saville, Al Fayed - but now in the 'Why ever did you appoint Mandelson' articles?

Why didn't you call it out when it mattered? Isn't that your job?

Lovely more academic-minded thread about Absolute Wonder Woman. 🖤 [Beware of spoilers for the first volume].

RIP Your Party: As I said from 2020 onwards, Old Jezza is a busted flush and it was unwise to try to organise around him. Even if he wanted to be a proper, prominent national political leader now, and it’s never been clear that he does want that. The ambition was plainly well below that level.

I'd rather put out a crappy book that I've put my heart and soul into everything than use generative AI even IF it made it look better. Anyone who has seen my work will attest to that. I have more principles than skills.

I'm 100% anti-AI, but I feel that people are going to base answers on who is making the comic. If they have got the money to pay someone to do the job and don't, then the reaction will be fierce. Kicking them all the way to hell, with slippers on to make it last longer, levels of scorn.

The gap between what we pay and what we get is like a canyon.

Once again, a Cross Country train delayed so long that the one after it is packed. Someone please take these incompetents off this service.

Friend of mine got publicly harassed on a panel by a comics writer everyone knew was a creeper—to the extent that older female editors would carefully make sure no young women sat next to him in meetings.

When she wrote about her experience, even without naming the guy, she got death threats

Ah man, me too. I absolutely hate it. I'll put off for weeks. I hate how it feels. I hate sitting there while it happens. I hate feeling like I'm covered in loose hair down my neck and back. I thought I was the only one.
