Investigating SPIR-V for the shader system - Part 3 In this blog post, we will focus on how the new SDSL parser has been implemented through writing a prototype expression parser as an example. We will see how...

πŸš€New on the Stride Engine blog: we've written a new parser for our shader language parser. Is it faster? Is it better? (Spoiler alert: it is) Read the post If you want to know more about it!

Are you using the built in SSR for this? definitely a nice upgrade so far!

Love this so much more! this seems perfectly clear to me as to what each does.

Although knowing now what the directional arrows are I don't dislike that original idea πŸ˜… I still think this is more clear though.

Ahh yeah, the animations would probably help a ton. Its not completely hidden thankfully but was slightly hard to see at first glance.

Love the first screen where I assume it's just deciding on buildings.

Love the aesthetic of the combat screen, although I am having a hard time seeing the creatures.

The final screen also looks good. The only thing is that it may be too much empty space? But it is clear to me.

I think the only one I can't understand is the recruitment screen. The layout within the boxes is confusing and I don't know what the numbers/descriptions are for.

The main issue I see with a butterfly is the likeliness of it being used to scam people who think they would be employee owned accounts. I understand people don't like the check but its universally recognized as a standard not just on X.

A Look Inside Distant Worlds 2: Developing with the Stride Engine [Distant Worlds 2](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1531540/Distant_Worlds_2/), the sequel to the acclaimed 4X strategy game [Distant Worlds: Universe](htt...

Had a really cool opportunity for the Stride team to talk with the developers of Distant Worlds 2 about their development process and community questions. This is primarily about how they used Stride but includes helpful dev insights! www.stride3d.net/blog/distant...

That's definitely been one of the major things I have noticed. The resources and libraries available for C++ for graphics specifically are leagues ahead of anything pure .NET, which was unfortunate but understandable with its maturity. I'll still be very excited to see how your journey goes here!

Makes sense, in the end I decided to try Stride and there are some goals to move the graphics backends to Silk.NET so hopefully we dont face the same issues. I know we have to replace SharpDX for Direct3D and the Vulkan wrapper was done with Vortice but that one seems to work well so far.

Does this mean you are moving away from MoltenEngine? I was following that project for a while due to my general interest in .NET.

I will always love Kenshi. That game has given me endless entertainment as an open world RPG/sim with so much to do as long as you dont mind creating your own story. If you like Rimworld this has to be on your to play list.

XMB menu recreated with @Stride3D
XMB menu recreated with @Stride3D YouTube video by Doprez

Finally got the main visuals of my XMB menu done! I cant understand why more consoles didn't keep with the beautiful simplicity of the PS3 menu.

I'm embarrassed with how long this category bar took me to finish... but very happy with the result!

Ignore the black dot I just needed to debug the center of the screen.

Another one of those days where I should have done other things but the intrusive idea of "I really want the XMB menu from the old PS3" was far to strong.

Implemented in Stride with SDSL converted from a ShaderToy example.

Video games in general have often gotten much simpler to appeal to a broader audience I have found. As someone whos favorite Elder Scrolls is Skyrim I do find that Oblivion and Morrowind have much more interesting mechanics. Picking up Skyrim is just too easy though when I need a quick fix.
