Covers of four novels by the spy thriller writer Frederick Forsyth, who died on Monday at age 86. The titles shown are Day of the Jackal, The Odessa File, The Dogs of War, and his forthcoming final book, a sequel to The Odessa File entitled Revenge of Odessa. It comes our November 18th, and we offer it as a 20% off preorder.
Text in this picture is an quote from Forsyth's obituary in The New York Times:
“Many of his plots and characters were ripped from real life. While researching “The Odessa File,” he interviewed Simon Wiesenthal, the famed Nazi hunter. Mr. Wiesenthal suggested that he use a real Nazi fugitive, Eduard Roschmann, the so-called Butcher of Riga, in the book.

As Mr. Forsyth recounted in his 2015 memoir, “The Outsider,” when the film version of “The Odessa File” was shown in a small town in Argentina, someone in the audience recognized the Roschmann character (played by Maximilian Schell) as his neighbor and turned him in.

Mr. Roschmann fled the country but died of a heart attack at the border. He was buried in a gravel pit. Mr. Forsyth said he hoped they tossed a copy of his book into the grave.”

Lunch of Champions: protein and fibre!!

Or…the lunch of someone who still can’t use their thighs after a leg session almost 48hrs and who is desperate for anything that might help fix them before heading back in to the gym at 7.30 tonight…

It won’t come as a surprise but this one is GOOD!! Even if one of the bad guys IS named after the Criminal Bar’s nicest, handsomest ex-boxer.

But otherwise it’s a winner!!

When I was 18-21 & living in Dundee, I was lucky enough that one of my boxing coaches was the legendary Dick McTaggart, the greatest British amateur boxer of all time.

It was one of the biggest honours I ever had.

Dick passed away at the weekend. A loss of a legend.

RIP, Sir.

Very much enjoying my long train journey to Aberdeen for Granite Noir

I’ve been writing most of the way but also taking a little trip down memory lane

I’m not sure what it says about my youth that I remember each town I pass by reference to who I fought there, but hey ho…
