Update: currently watching my partner chuckle his way through the bread piece. It's very enjoyable
Sidling up to people to whisper, conspiratorially, "have you read the bread piece?"
French mustard (the smooth Dijon kind), soy sauce, and aged balsamic (the syrupy type)
A picture of the book Butter by Asako Yuzuki, translated by Polly Barton
Finally finished Butter today - a weird book, but certainly fascinating. And I do love the place it gets to about the weird legacy in recipes
An intensely pink fizzy drink next to a bottle of alcohol-free Tequila-ish
Made myself a virgin paloma. Gotta say: doesn't taste half bad!
Another day, another piece that confuses supporting women getting to make their own bad choices for themselves with a duty to support whatever a woman does because she chose it
I love the train sometimes. Bros chatting behind me. One of them tells the other that when he's on the toilet without his phone he'll sometimes fold elaborate origami swans from toilet paper. May well be a joke, but wholesome nevertheless!
A colorful two-story home for animals (including the cute piglet from Moana) built from Lego, photographed from a dramatic low angle that makes it look like brutalist architecture via Lisa Frank
Youngest godkid had fun with Lego today and then I had fun teaching her about dramatic camera angles and choosing the right perspective.
Ok, maybe I do spend to much time on the internet: just tried BIRB as a word in Spelling Bee...
And it's not even the best song in the movie! I like that it's a proper movie musical, in the tradition of classic Disney

So many things I need to do today. But it's already noon and so far this is the status
Browsing around for something to watch, and HBO max has a "feelgood emergency kit" collection including The Banshees of Inisherin, Nightbitch and The Favourite. I have questions!
A slice of apple pie and a steaming mug of tea (with honey, though that's not visible)
My work gives you an additional day off in the week or so around your birthday. I'm taking mine today, and I'm annoyed because I'm spending it with a cold. But at least there's leftover apple pie!
mother!
Without a doubt

IFFR tip! En hij lijkt later dit jaar ook een reguliere release te krijgen 🤞

Same for movies. One of my godkids asked for "The Princess and the Pan" when she was about four. Took us a while to figure out she meant Tangled, but the name stuck!
Ok, ok, should shout out the positive, but "four-time Oscar nominee F1"? Is that really the world we live in?
(Confession: bailed after the first hour, so maybe it gets really great after that, who knows!)
I have that box! It's pretty great - I wouldn't necessarily say they're all good films, but none of them were boring! I recently promised I'd lend it to a friend's 11yo kid, who's really into Godzilla, mainly for The X From Outer Space
Loved this piece, so much. There's something special about finding a piece of culture that just clicks with you www.nytimes.com/2026/01/11/m...
I've had no luck for those either, alas!

The other side of the crochet phone pouch/bag, showing two slightly more muted flower motifs surrounded by dark green yarn.
I've been frantically crocheting lately, in a desperate attempt not to despair over current events. Not sure it's working, but at least now I have a cute new phone bag?

Should go grocery shopping but it's cold and snowy so I'm procrastinating by making crochet flowers
