Yeah, I hadn't heard it for a while but it holds up.
A great band on there, and it sounds like they had fun recording it.
The most realistic thing about Riker and Troi’s longterm romance is how the trombone becomes a symbol to Riker of both triumph and humiliation and I feel like every trombonist has gone through this at one point or another
The young people nowadays don't have a very best friend that they call Ragtime Willie, and I just think that's a shame
Oh, that's glorious.
The mix of recent live jams of the title track on their bandcamp is great as well.
Bob Downes - Deep Down Heavy MFP, 1970
Following the Bill Fay album earlier in the week, I'm after hearing all the Ray Russell I can. Which has brought me here.

That's my Friday night sorted
It'll be all about how the world's gone crazy for a brand new dance.
Schwartzwaldfahrt - Peter Brötzmann and Han Bennink Cien Fuegos reissue of 1977 FMP LP
Now playing- Schwartzwaldfahrt.
Before Mortimer and Whitehouse there was Brötzmann and Bennink.
Wonderful player, especially love his work with Mary Lou Williams.
Two records arranged on my kallax. Stage left: Apple Venus by XTC Stage right: Resin Pockets by Crescent
While I practice my darts on a stack of cardboard mailers, these are the evening listens
Siegfried Kessler - Solaire Futura, 1971 (SouffleContinu reissue)
Excellent free piano trio from the mighty Futura label.
Brittle and wiry.
Excellent sleeve as well- Kessler has the look of a man who has had his 'specialist magazine' shop raided by the fuzz twice in the same week.
Yes- I can hear that. Would go well with an egg nog.
Bill Fay - Time Of The Last Persecution Deram, 1971 (2025 reissue)
This is one of those albums I've known about for years.
Finally got around to it today.
So much talent on one magazine cover...

One Unkle Munkle listening to Moin
Hopefully you'll get to see him at some point
I saw the Coachwhips soon after this came out, and John Dwyer told the story about when he played London with Zeigenbock Kopf. After some help from a pill or 7, he ended up rolling naked in broken glass, so spent the evening in St Thomas's being patched up. They gave him fish and chips for his tea.
Yeah, I can totally see why.
It's incredibly moving.
Funny and touching at the same time.
At this dizzying rate, you can look forward to hearing my hot take on Angine de Poitrine in early 2028.
Bill Orcutt - How To Rescue Things Palilalia, 2024 Fucking glorious
I've been meaning to pick this up since hearing about it, and here it is.
A year and a half of expectations, but it easily lives up to them all.
They're playing Fennesz on Homes Under The Hammer
This is an excellent piece.
I hope that the lost songs from the Miss America sessions will see the light of day at some point.
It is. Such a great opener.
