Weird shit. Like the kind of stuff that feeds your soul but also makes you giggle like a five year old after two espressos. Like a house crammed full of weirdness that looks like Pee-Wee and Pippi Longstockings were your decorators.

Okay, not *exactly* a luxury. I would open a business dedicated to science education. Call it Catapult Valley, featuring a bunch of catapults on a bluff or big hill. It would have a gift shop and would market itself as a field trip destination for high schoolers. I’ve thought way too much about it.

What is a team earning them billions of dollars compared to driving up the stock price temporarily for the quarter to mollify investors? Would not any man so similarly challenged make the same decision?

Sorry, a little facetious here.

See I think parents should absolutely teach their kids how to gamble, along with probability and psychology principles around reward schedules.

It’s almost like our journalistic media apparatus is oriented around making money instead of telling the truth. I mean, if that were true, we’d have willfully warped coverage that prioritized viewership over the public good.

I play a lot of word games and do crosswords puzzles. Tends to give me ideas for NPC and town names. So rather than waste it, I made up a notes file on my iPhone where I dump name ideas as they occur to me. Then I can just pull the names out later as needed.

“I saw a Fast Company article saying pudding is trending, how can we incorporate that into this product?”

“Sir, this is a tire iron.”

“You’re fired.”

I love that it says “rise”. Cute. Like we aren’t all already basically locked into employment to lunatics whose insane whims we have to work around to get anything done. New job? Same kind of weirdo owning it.

If you let him go as long as is plausibly possible before removing him, you can blame all the awful stuff the admin has done up to that point on him. So long as he’s advancing their interests, they will not remove him. They being the people around him.

To be clear I’m not saying Mayans are weird, I’m saying that some people are immediately repulsed by things they find unfamiliar. I am usually more curious about it than frightened. But then I also went to Art school, so…

A friend and I were talking recently, and we neither one use “weird” as a pejorative. We are as likely to be delighted by weird stuff as we are creeped out by it. We use it as value neutral. But we then discussed people for whom that is not the case, and we do not get it.

Oh, but ask his base. For them it’s working and we just need to give it time.

Seems like judicial review being able to say the constitution doesn’t say what it plainly does say is something of a serious problem.

Yeah, I don’t go for him either for those reasons. It’s a good point. Once I copped to it (around the time of Holy Terror) I re-evaluated his work and personally don’t go for it.

Abusers tend to have a pattern of behavior that stretches back to a time before they get caught. The idea that they were not engaged in questionable behavior before it came to light is extremely unlikely.

Not suggesting anything beyond being aware of it and letting it inform your choices. If you are aware of Cosby’s behavior and it does not affect your enjoyment of I Spy in any way then go with god, I guess. FWIW, the earliest sexual assault allegation against him listed in Wikipedia dates to 1965.

Jimmy Page kidnapped an underage girl in like the 70’s and kept her at his house. That is to say he kidnapped and raped her. Repeatedly. For years.

Probably not because once you are aware of their behavior it colors how you view their work. You see weird excuses and justifications in their work that you wouldn’t have seen before. I’m likely done with those two for good. Same with many others, but I’d like hope I would look at them separately.

Not thinking about things that make you uncomfortable is childish. We all want comfort right now. We all want to feel better. But refusing to think about what you’re consuming and how it relates to other things in the world it sits in is dumb. Nostalgia is a drug, and as such it is also a lie.

Basically, if you’re actively hurting people, or in the process of getting away with it, there is an entire universe of other ways to spend my time and attention. I find a lot of arguments for separating the art and artist boil down to, “I don’t want to stop enjoying this thing.”

There’s a list of stuff I stopped listening to or reading because I don’t want to support people who do bad things:
* Harry Potter
* Led Zeppelin
* Ren and Stimpy
* anything by Neil Gaiman
* Woody Allen films
I don’t have the same issue with works by deceased authors.

There’s no such thing as a nuclear vest. “Suitcase nukes” just about fit in the bed of a pickup. This is nonsense.

Cursive is from a time when correspondence was written by hand. In that context it does make sense, but in my adult life I have never had any use for it whatsoever. I graduated high school in 95. Context has shifted, but these volkisch jack wipes insist we go back in time no matter the context.

It wouldn’t work. Trump historically only wants to believe things that are beneficial or flattering. He would get pissed at best. More likely to elicit a backfire effect where he doubles down.
