what's up! (sorry for the lateness)

I want to put out other people's novels, but what do authors realistically expect from tiny presses in the year of our lord 2025? What do authors like to see from small budget presses that makes it worthwhile? Why choose that over diy/self-pub?

I don't post on Bluesky very often (trying to change that), so this deadline has passed-- but please follow in case you want to submit for the next one!
That’s cool. Then we just keep kicking the can down the road until we find the origin of whatever initiated life here.
Hey, leave ketamine out of this.
Yeah it would honestly be exactly like that — but with more scat play.
Idk about that, I’m still tickin.
"A wizard did it."
Correct. There are tons of articles published on this subject. Even Joyce Carol Oates famously chimed in.
If anything, men need to read (and write) MORE fiction these days. Almost none of my guy friends read books (save for the occasional nonfiction title). The medium is seen as pointless by a culture who overvalues “logic” and STEM.
But that’s not true. Via The Guardian:
“Within the “general and literary fiction” category, 75% were by female authors – 75% female-25% male appearing to be something of a golden ratio in contemporary publishing. The general consensus is that young male writers have given up on literary fiction.”
Have you ever read John Dies at the End? Not strictly scifi/fantasy, but sort of lovecraftian cosmic horror— but very funny.
Record goes hard
So many sick visuals in this movie.
Clive Barker is one of the horniest men to ever live.
This is 100% a post.
If you’ll entertain dark urban fantasy, I suggest Cabal by Clive Barker.
Just looked that book up and I definitely sense the hints of Fisher in its description. Gonna check it out. Thanks!
I think year-end “worst” lists are pretty unnecessary. Instead of beating down books you didn’t like that people spent years writing, just ignore those titles and spend more time hyping up the books you actually did like. The lists just feel mean.

One of my favorites. And yes, absolutely. I think his work on cultural stagnation is going to become more and more relevant as this decades trudges on.
Never read but I dig the cover — and the hauntology reference in your bio! I’ve been flipping through Ghosts of My Life again lately.
This book reminds me of zines like Cometbus — but instead of punks, it’s about the dude with the Monster Energy logo stick-and-poked on his neck who sells pills in the restroom of the worst bar in town.
It’s good.
