I keep things simple - prioritizing code and product. Social media comes second, when or if possible.

Thatโ€™s why my account is so small, and I donโ€™t even have a banner ๐Ÿ˜‚

I use Tally and Typeform for client projects and Google Forms for my own.

Tally and Typeform offer more customization, Google is perfect for more simple things.

My favorites are Shape Up and How to Measure Anything (the latter isnโ€™t shown in this picture, but it's definitely worth reading ๐Ÿ’ฏ)

Yeah, I'll probably build it: costs for running such an extension are close to 0, as it runs on the browser environment and doesn't require servers. But maybe it'll help me to learn smth about other marketing channels.

To all #buildinpublic folks working with YouTube - is this idea worth building?

3. While exploring other traffic sources, I turned to YouTube. Hereโ€™s my thought process:
โžœ Creating YouTube videos or Shorts on "how to..." topics can drive traffic to your products

Marketing Sprint, Day 3 โ€“ Pivoting

After testing competitors' apps and extensions, Iโ€™ve decided to drop my MVP.

Reasons:
1. Netflix-only focus is too narrow.
2. Google traffic likely won't bring me even $200/month.
3. โ†˜๏ธ

Wow!

At some point, I literally dreamed of a career in ML, but my math skills ๐Ÿ‘Ž, so I can only be a user of all these AI-related things

So far, so good - thanks!
โ†—๏ธ 55 sales of the Chrome extension I built last summer
โ†—๏ธ A new idea - WIP: technical feasibility checked, currently I'm researching marketing chops
โ†—๏ธ Also built a few workflow automations for two clients

How about you? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm going to try a mix of:
1. A well-optimized extension page - Google tends to give a slight boost to pages within its ecosystem
2. YouTube videos focusing on "how to..." keywords and demonstrating my extension

Well, January is over.
To those doing "12 startups in 12 months" - how's it going? Is your first startup live? ๐Ÿ˜‚

P.S. read this with a bit of irony, of course ๐Ÿซถ good luck to all of us

I bet on SEO:)
People with an articulated need are the best market

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

Summary:
1. Monetization is possible
2. With an average price of $4 โ€“ 5 per month consistent organic traffic is required to achieve at least $1000 in MRR

On Day 3, Iโ€™ll conduct a deeper research to determine if I can stand out at the same price point and less features but better UX

**Language Reactor**
1. Designed for Netflix and other video platforms.
2. Adds subtitles in a selected language (slightly different use case than mine)
3. Offers a paid tier at $5 per month.
4. Includes many free features and tools for language learners (my target audience as I expect)

Selectext: Copy Text from Videos
1. Does not work for Netflix but supports many other video platforms
2. Users can copy text directly while watching (like implemented it in my extension MVP)
3. Offers paid tiers at $4 and $6 per month
4. Only 20 "copy" actions are available on the free tier

DownSub
1. No Netflix Support
2. Users must provide a direct link to the YT video, which makes it a slightly different use case compared to my idea
3. Offers a paid tier at $5/month
4. The free version includes ads
5. The core feature is accessible on the free tier (because of ads, I suppose)

Marketing Sprint, Day 2

Idea: A Chrome extension that allows users to subtitles from Netflix videos.
Question 2: Can this idea be monetized?

Letโ€™s analyze existing competitors. Examples include:

Incident Update: Docker Desktop for Mac Docker has identified and provided a temporary workaround for an issue preventing Docker Desktop from starting on some macOS systems, with a permanent fix currently in development.

Oh yes, I already got a few grey hairs ๐Ÿ˜‚
They explained it here www.docker.com/blog/inciden...

Fix was easy

There were hundreds of people asking pretty much the same questions

They had asked it a week, a month or even a year before I did

I donโ€™t know how many tutorials they watched, but they definitely got their projectโ€™s auth working a week, a month or a year ahead of me.

Today I remembered of how I kept rewatching tutorials about OAuth because I felt I didnโ€™t fully grasp the topic

Then, I finally started working on the auth for my pet project, and the first version crashed, for sure

I turned to StackOverflow for answers (it was pre-ChatGPT era๐Ÿ˜…)
