"Famous Blue Raincoat" is one of his finest songs, making it, by default, one of the finest songs of the 20th century. The first track, "Avalanche," is among the great, mood-setting openers and used to brilliant effect in Assayas's '94 film "Cold Water.
Highly recommend watching the live version from Zoo TV if you haven't seen it, beginning with the previous song, Bullet the Blue Sky.

Yes! I love that duet and her whole Unforgettable album. My dad played it constantly when it came out, so it was sort of my introduction to music generally.
This might be my favorite cover of theirs, though I wonder if it fits the #XPNCountdown criteria since it includes a prerecorded "duet."

Everything in its Right Place
Hearing this segue into Ramones' "Needles and Pins" has been my favorite one-two punch of this whole countdown so far.
Buckley's sublime and ghostly take on "Lilac Wine" is yet another example of how he could seemingly live inside someone else's song like few others. #XPNCountdown
It might be my all-time favorite song of his. It is certainly among the songs that has most impacted my life.
