i'm too old for cold start!

11 months ago 2 0 0 0

So seriously have the cold start problem here. How do i find these incredible follow lists people talk about?

Is there an AI for that?

11 months ago 3 0 2 0

Man that's true. Maybe the right framing is treat Rogue One / Andor as the true prequels.

So you do New Hope. then the lead up.

Thanks sir. 🙏

I have a friend in his 30s who has never seen any Star Wars.

I'm thinking of just Rogue One + Andor S1/2 which leads directly into New Hope.

Then stop.
That feels like such a gift.

A University President Makes a Case Against Cowardice The Trump Administration wants to punish schools for student activism. Michael Roth, of Wesleyan, argues that colleges don’t have to roll over.

Wesleyan should get more credit.

President went out in a limb first. Privately tried to get the other school to join together & they delayed. Plus he is pro-Israel, which makes it a hard principled stance.

To be fair, we went on a Nolan binge that's what kind of inspired this. ;) I don't think we can do 6+ of each director like we did of Nolan. Hence, trilogy.

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

The goal is they feel loosely like an anthology. Could have happened in the same world and we can chat about how the director evolved. Also, banger movies helps.

Not sure Hitchcock will hold up, in which case maybe Kubrick (Shining, etc) or Cuaron (Children of Men, etc) or, ooh Lumet

Thoughts?

Im tired streaming filler TV, but my son is not down for one off movies.

Enter: Director Trilogies.

Help? First draft
1) PTA: Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Phantom Thread
2) Tarantino: Res Dogs, Pulp Fiction & Once Upon a Time or Inglorious Basterds
3) Hitchcock: Psycho, Rear Window, Vertigo

Is this LA or is this Gaza?

My sincere hope is for my family in LA and in Palestine to be safe, and have opportunity and dignity in their lives. As a wise person said recently, I want for you whatever you want for the Palestinians.

Really wish TV shows had a variable recap length. Seems AI possible.

Like it's another episode of Breaking Bad? I watched the one yesterday just give me 30 seconds.

It's a new season of Arcane & i'm trying to remember 12 characters and all their events after 2 years?

I'd like 45 mins please.

we aren't going to agree here. calling out the exception doesn't prove the rule.

is a16z a venture firm?
would have to see where a bulk of their assets are deployed at this point, but debatable.

they are all bad.
been down this rabbit hole.

multi step reflection and editing is better than fine tuning, fwiw.

If we want to diagnose each on their benefits & sins:
- one inherently pushes for risk / growth with all the positive/negatives inherent
- one mitigates against risk towards efficiency

Both can hurt or help workers & consumers depending where they are on that spectrum, and in which market.

well THAT was an internet rabbit hole sent me down. thx. 🙏

PE and VC are as wildly different as Poker is to Football, that pretty much invalidates everything else in this take.

Agreed. I didn't see the "perpetual underdog" from Zuck or Gates.

But VCs are the absolute worst at this (says one VC to another).

You can mock lack or laugh at it. But if your self image is tied to feeling like the nerd building and innovating large business and being treated lower than PE wealth extractors, it's going to hurt.

Ultimately they took a gambit the corrupt dude would be corrupt for them to fix that.

You are right but let's be honest the tech industry has been made to feel like vampiric private equity finance ghouls by the left.

Obviously tech required scrutiny, but other US industries- say Hollywood or Auto- get that with less vitriol. It messed w the self image of the innovator/builder.
