And yes. Pointing out that lack of empathy is something I’m doing because it’s not just a “difference of how people process things.” A lack of empathy for other people is a gigantic red flag, ESPECIALLY in a conversation about regretting past actions.

My point is that empathy is a completely different emotion from remorse. I’m not asking people to reveal what they did or to apologize or anything like that. I’m just pointing out the lack of empathy in a lot of these responses that are referencing that they hurt others.

I think we’re in agreement in that bit. Remorse for the damage done to other people is a big part of it, not just realizing how much being a shitty person sucks for oneself. And that’s the part that’s missing from a lot of comments.
