Carney unveils temporary cut to gas, diesel taxes after securing majority The measure, framed as response to rising energy prices, is expected to begin April 20 and remain in place until Sept. 7

Wouldn't a windfall tax on fossil fuel companies be more appropriate *and* increase govt funding? Cutting gas taxes is an excuse for austerity to come. www.theglobeandmail.com/politics/art...

Idea: a Hollow Knight mod for the elder hu fight where the rings/pancakes make a "ring ding ding a ding ding ding ding" noise called "Hu put the fork in the garbage disposal"

You know how people sometimes say that religion = a cult + time? While that absolutely tracks for high control religions, I propose another equivalence (for egalitarian religions):

religion = an ARG + time

You can also get migration alerts and forecasts from birdcast.org

This is great if you are trying really hard to focus at work and you want to instead be distracted by the fact that there's gonna be really good movement this Thursday night (92 million birds predicted to be on the move!)

I like how the word gelatinous sounds bouba, describes something bouba, and is spelled very bouba.

Also, I just realized that Latin letters which represent bouba phonemes are shaped bouba and letters which sound Kiki are shaped kiki. Is that true in other languages/scripts?

There was a brief part of my life where I did treat productivity as the point of my humanity. Safe to say, I was suffering from the depersonalization effects of dysphoria, and uh, yeah, not interested in that kind of philosophy for any kind of sustainable personal philosophy.

Risking full blown teleology here but the point of humans is not productivity. The point of human beings is whatever we make of it collectively, depending on your faith or philosophy but it isn't productivity.

Thoughtful thread. Was just lecturing to my students about all of these well-established effects of automation.

🤤 hell yeah cabbage. I love being from a cabbage culture. I still need to learn how to make cabbage dishes, especially cuz my dad wasn't into borscht or holubtsi, so my mom never made it at home. (Mennonite borscht is primarily cabbage rather than beets)

Oh, do you have a modular power supply, and you're looking for a cable that goes straight into it?, if so, if it doesn't have a 12vhpwr cable, you're SOL, as modular power supply cables are not standardized at all. maybe the manufacturer of your PSU makes one, but it's rare.

Why isn't IoT device pairing using NFC a common, standardized thing?

Like, there should be an ecosystem of devices like switches and lights and more where you can pair a switch to a light and, with a quick confirmation, have that switch control that light, and more lights than just that.

But her GPU didn't use it because AMD GPUs don't use it yet, IIRC. At least at the time she got me to build her computer.

Should I use the 12V-2x6 adapter from my RTX GPU, or the cable from my PSU? Using a direct 12V-2x6 cable have quite a few advantages over one of the many adapters, but what is the difference actually?

Yeah, adapters exist. I'm surprised that the GPU didn't come with an adapter, as this Corsair marketing article describes: www.corsair.com/us/en/explor... (I had to Google just to make sure they did exist)

I first learned about the 12vhpwr's existence when my friend's PSU had a cable.

Hang on "Participants were either given the patches to wear or received injections", I thought you had to have participants who received no treatment and yet are still put through a whole battery of tests, or does that only happen if you are trans?

There's a playlist on YouTube where you can watch it for free. That's how I'm watching it right now.

Are there any songs specifically about shopping at the bulk section of a grocery store? Maybe even a song devoted to the Bulk Barn🍁?
