When I first got sober I struggled with boredom. Over the years, I realized that it wasn’t so much boredom I was struggling with, but not getting a dopamine hit. When I feel like that now I do something to reset my brain: art, exercise, nature etc. It gets easier and thankfully less boring.

Went to an AA meeting in the suburbs. There were so many octogenarians that I wondered if a senior center had dropped them off, the way that the Salvation Army drops off guys at meetings in the city. The topic was sexual inventory. Never realized how much I missed Dr. Ruth Westheimer until today.

411 days!! That’s amazing!! The first year is so hard!! There were people that didn’t support me the first year (24 years ago) bc of their own issues. Some people are uncomfortable with any change, even when it’s not their own. Don’t let anyone deter your sobriety. Keep doing what you’re doing!!
